It is recommended to use materials such as cardboard, wooden blocks, kappa board, polystyrene or foam board as they are handy. Hence, materials which can be cut easily with sharp blade and can be glued up together are suggested.
They eventually give a clean and finish look to the model making. Each material has specific characteristic thus enabling oneself to make the right choice for a project.

For example, you can make substantial model making with kappa board specially if you want to put emphasis on the interior walls.

Model making is not only about representing an idea it is should also enable the client to visualize himself/herself there. This is the reason why the model making should be as much realistic as possible. Therefore, it is recommended to give it a final look by using materials such as paint, spray and drawing pencil.

By using these materials, you can give the maximum of details as possible. Another way of making the model more realistic is by adding texture. You can easily use a scalpel to give the effect of a joint stone work for example.

For example, glue guns or UHU glue are best known for their durability.
You will also need scissors, scalpel or sharp blade to cut fabrics, boards etc. While using blade or scalpel, an interior designer shall have a steel straight-edge to guide him while cutting.
Depending on the model chosen, it is important to choose a scale. Model making is a consistent following stage in the reasoning procedure for some ideas. When somebody begins using materials and fabrication techniques they can refine their plans to make them to work. In a way everybody is a model maker when they make an interpretation of an idea into physical reality. Those in the model making profession through experience and ability have advanced skills with manufacture systems and their knowledge of what materials would work best.

Model making is the next thing to do after selecting your final idea before realization. It is a physical object that is used by architect, engineer, scientists and so on to represent to scale how would the final work of their design would look like. Model making for architects can be made up of different materials such as foam board, triplex board, plastic, wood, metal and many more materials. One main thing that may be taken in consideration mostly for architect while doing a model is the dimension, all the dimensions of the model must be to scale.
