They are all quite competitive and have a high skill level. I organised small skill competitions for the first lesson on a double period. They had to serve over the net and hit coloured spots. They received different points for certain spots. Vertical jump contest to see who could jump the highest then a team relay with fun activities. These points all counted towards the second period where they were placed into teams depending on their points. S1 have been studying the drama Frankenstein and learning about theme, narrative and characterisation . A high quality assessment could involve a mock court case where the monster is put on trial and pupils are each assigned a role as a character who will be called l the witness stand for their view on whether he is truly guilty or his creator is ultimately guilty. The idea we have is to give the pupils a choice in presentation method (poster/ppt/video/news report etc) with the main task being to inform peers about what an MSP does in an average day. We will co-create a success criteria then each group's work will be presented to the class with the rest of the class ticking off said success criteria and giving 2 stars and a wish.
