- Based on context clues, the ice getting thinner is basically a metaphor for the singer’s relationship’s buttress/foundation slowly faltering. It reminds me of a torture method. There was this thing people back in the days would do. They would toe their victim in a boat and pour honey and water on them and push the boat into the water. The person would face a slow death as insects est them alive. Sort of like this relationship. It’s meeting it’s demise slowly yet surely.
