Watching Marie-Laure explain complicated biology lesson proves that verbal language makes only 7% of communication.
Patience, tolerance, goodwill helps us understand each other better at the same time encouraging the language learning. Important thing to remember - language is for communication and not for assessment! Use it as much as possibble :)

The natural reserve of the Gran Cul de Sac hosts several ecosystems of invaluable importance.

Unfortunately, it is evident that these fragile ecosystems are in danger; we have to teach our students to understand and respect them. Massive tourism and global warming have evidently speeded up the destruction of these vital treasures to our life.

Heroes like our exceptional guide today, Marie – Laure, try their best to make people aware of their responsibility towards our planet; teachers have a privileged role in helping young people to reduce their impact on the planet as much as possible for the benefit of all species: plants, animals and human beings.

"Climate change is a reality and those who deny it, shut their eyes and do not want to understand."
This was more than obvious at the wonderful place we were allowed to be today. A small offshore island, a paradise that has shrunk by more than 2/3 within a few years. The reason for this is the dying corals on reefs, which protected this island from the waves. If the sea continues to warm up, they will disappear completely, and the island will be at the mercy of the sea.
Furthermore, the increasing water temperatures increase the intensity and frequency of tropical cyclones, which also contribute to their destruction. This also affects the mangrove forests, which have nothing to oppose this power.

In addition, the human has intervened directly in this place. By using locally occurring sand resources, they have eroded too much sand and the island has collapsed.

What this knowledge means for our teaching is obvious. It is our job to share this knowledge with our students and to show the drama of the situation so that something can be done before it is too late. If everyone does a little, that will make a big impact on the solution. We can think together with the pupils, which possibilities everyone has.

Next to the island it was beautiful to experience the tradition of eating together at the weekend with friends or family. We have enjoyed a great menu and many great conversations, and we have spent a lot of time with. Something that receives little attention in Germany. Unfortunately, this tradition has already been lost. Often you eat alone, standing or even watching TV and too often unhealthy fast food. We should also remember this tradition and reintroduce this time together and the conscious enjoyment of eating.

Man perceives the world around him through the prism of his own culture. As a child he learns the rules of behavior and evaluation. In an effort to understand the social and natural environment person also sticks to stereotypes and other ways of simplifying. In this way one creates an order that applies to a particular culture. Order gives sense to everyday things and makes life meaningful.Rules, habits and rituals in the family shape the lifestyle of the individual while strengthening bonds, enhancing a sense of belonging, safety and lasting connection. Sunday family lunch or lunch with friends is certainly such a ritual that is known by all cultures. So yesterday at Ilet Caret, at the richly lined table in the pleasant company of people with big heart and chatting I felt like I could stay there forever. I could understand even some of French, which I don't speak. Today we also made contact with other visitors at Petite Terre at lunchtime. Our students know many rituals in their families, and it is right that we talk to them about those rituals and discover their meaning together - also in a social not just personal sense. With habits and rituals learning also becomes faster and stereotypes are dispelled.

Saturday made many impressions and the funniest thing I learnt was that the birds who eat worms also go to work and get back home after work. Sometimes it feels like we as humans are behaving very strange when we are doing things that we maybe not want to do, for example go to work or exercise. So it felt good that animals (at least those birds) also have that behavior.

But we are different from animals because we can see the consequences in what we are doing and we also have the possibility to change behavior. Seeing the islands decrease due to the climate change is very sad and it is even more sad that we do not seem to change our behavior in the right direction. We do see what is happening and we still do not do enough. What would it take to make us act in another way?

Despite the industrial revolution, globalization and technical development, traditions and customs around the world are firmly rooted. Every bit of the world has specific ones.
Today I witnessed how to spend a beautiful day in a circle of people in a very simple way. With open arms, we were welcomed and served. Their tradicion is that family and friends come together and eat on the weekend. I love this tradition and its simplicity.
In Slovenia, a very important way of serving is, for example, the same plates for everyone, the appearance of food must be perfect, we often serve guests all the time ....
It all takes us a lot of time, so it is easier to cook lunch for narrower members. In the wider circle, we often gather at various celebrations.
Reflections cannot be changed overnight, but younger generations should be encouraged to make socializing an important and friendly relationship with one another. Here I also refer to the relationship to animals and plants. We are the ones who teach younger generations, so our role is very important for the future.
