this app is a study timer, which plants and grows a tree in the time you set to work. Leaving the app will result in the tree dying. 

5 stars from 6 thousand reviews, it is free on the android App Store but costs 3 dollars on the apple store

it would be effective as a long term class thing, such as reading time, the teacher could plant a tree for the time and the students to see that they have made progress. 

the tool allows provides a space to concentrate

every tree that is 'completed' in-app is then planted in real life, so there are environmental benefits

it was initially released in 2016 (5 years ago)

"With this app you are forced forced FORCED to not use your phone. Because if you do while the app is in use you could have to pay money to donate to a charity and kill your virtual tree. It's a no brainer." -app store 5 stars

•Will it exist in 2 years time? It seems like it will, obviously there is no way of predicting what the app will entail over the next few years, although it is a sponsor to a number of not-for-profit organisations and from the surface seems legit.

Review -This app is incredible!! I have ADHD and its the only thing I've found that actually helps not only to start new habits, but the daily to do lists and daily, weekly or monthly task lists are incredible. I use them for everything from remembering when to clean my bathroom to brushing my teeth daily.

Todiost is a to-do-list online application. It can be a shared document so tasks can be set for multiple people in your household or workforce. Each activity can be recurring or for a single date. You can categorise these into different sections and put tags on them. You can also add notes to each activity as you are doing it. For example, someone may leave a note for a work member saying they are up to ..... It is integrated across a phone and web app. The free version does all of this but for $4 a month, you can get a lot more.

Therefore the claim is that it can do many many things.

This app has been around since 2007 and we predict it will be around for more than 2 years.

 A short description of its purpose
The Forest App is a timer app that eliminates distractions by ‘planting and growing a tree’ for the time that you are focused, in order to keep the tree alive you must stay on the app. On Forest you can also create Rest Time period, giving yourself 5 minutes of break before you are brought back onto the app again. Each user can plant up to 5 trees just by using the app - environmental benefit.

Within the classroom this app could be used when students are struggling with focus whether at home when doing assignments or homework, or in class if students use devices for their learning.

This app has been around since 2016 and I do see it continuing to be used in future.

You need to set a timer when you are completing something such as at work, studying etc. you set a time you are going to work for. Once started a tree will start to grow, When completed the set time it will be fully grown, if you do not complete the time the tree dies. Every activity a new tree will grow and the aim is to grow a forest hence the name of the app

Pros - Visual stimuli, reward and consequences for task set about, environmentally sustainability has it can plant real trees, looks like a game which can appeal to younger children. 

Cons: 
Makes you unlock trees in the mobile app.
Very self-reliant, you can just quit if you want to.
Seems better for self regulation rather than student focused engagement. 
Having to have a digital device nearby could be a distraction in itself.
