         <description><![CDATA[<div>When Hammurabi became king, the city he ruled, Babylon, was already a major power in Mesopotamia. During his reign, however he transformed Babylon from a small city-state into a large powerful state. He also united all of the city states in Mesopotamia under one rule Hammurabi is best known for his code of laws. He took what he believed were the best laws from each city-state in Mesopotamia and put them in one code. The code covered crimes, farming, business activities, marriage and the family- almost every area of life were covered in his 282 laws. Each law had a consequence if broken</div>]]></description>
