What does being online involve? By working with diffrent articles, writers, videos and whats trending right now. We have learned that twitter is more than just a place to post clever quotes, it also holds space for the genre Twitter fiction, which is for innovative people with at creative mind and a good idea. Another thing used in the online community is the popular selfie, which has become a powerful self promoting way to establish your self image. By taking selfies or making videos you are putting thoughts into your projekt, and if the tastemakers like what you are doing well maybe that means your are going places. In addition to that there is also front region and back region which is the contrast between the private parts and the more staged parts of your life.

During this course about being online, we have worked with at many different perspectives on this topic. For instance, we have worked with social medias like Twitter, Youtube and Facebook. Today, we have developed a network, which has led to the development of social medias, which gives us many possibilities. Andrew Fitzgerald talks about how new media turns into new formats which turn into new stories. Many authors experimented with short stories at social medias / web pages as Twitter and Amazon, and these new ways of telling a short story give the short story a whole new format. In addition to our use of social medias we take selfies and post them online. In this way, we promote ourselves. But one of the more concerning factors about the whole online thing, is that we seem to strive to show how perfect we are and sometimes we end up forgetting that difference is good. I believe that we should intend to focus more on posting things that show how creative, unexpected and mysterious we are. I would like us as a community to be more open-minded and thereby engage in a dimensional network with room for everyone to be unique and trendy in their own way.

The world has not been the same since the birth of the online world came to life. In this online world did the social media, the forums and the communities of bloom and expand itself in every way imaginable. Do not get me wrong though, social media has been marked as beloved and hated all over the world - this is not just an innovative concept made to make the world a better place. This also creates addiction, fears and anxieties based on just another genius corporate idea. We follow what is trending, all of the best tastemakers, we use it to get closer to the people we cannot be around all of the time - this means both our friends, but also people that we know, that does not know us. We want to use the online media to portray ourselves the way we want to be seen - because online you can choose to hide behind an account, a new personality, that might be the new you, but also a personality you might not be able to show to your real-life friends and family. We have been given the opportunity to show the world the real us, the person we might not have the self esteem to show in real life

Online networking is very important for everyone nowadays, social media’s have a big influence on how we act - Online and in the real world. How people take selfies is also a special thing because you have an opportunity to “make” yourself look perfect online.

We post selfies to create a self-image we like. We can retake our selfies until we’ve satisfied with the result and what we think our self-image should be like. What we post online can be front and/or back region where back is more personal, you let the viewers see something more private about yourself and front is more of a set-up, like it isn’t private and personal. But everything we post is front region since we select what we want our viewers to see and what not to see even if the content of the post might be more personal. The tastemakers, the unexpectedness, and communities of participation are what make videos go viral.

With our new media, you can change your format to how/and what you want it. For example real-time storytelling, blurring the line between fact and fiction, the real world and the digital one, flexible identity and anonymity.

“online” was a topic about the modern trend, where selfies, funny videos and free speech mean a lot. How it’s important for us to interact with people, without having to meet physically. We often use the “front-stage” when interacting on social media. It’s the side of us which has to look good when facing the community. We use “back-stage” when being relaxed and ourselves. The internet is used for many things, fx spreading a message, for posting your perfect selfie or simply to keep up with all of your friends.

So how would you describe modern society? Could you even compare the development of social media and internet and its influence on this generation with any other time periode in the world. Adolescent are wandering around with an obsession of interacting with hundreds of people all the time. We act in two different aspects, when we appear infront of an audience. Back region covers your personal life, where front region is usually the appearance you have at work and in the public. The necessity to display the perfect and attractive facade of yourself through the self-portrait photographical phenomenon, Selfie”. Where your acquaintance can either recognise or interpret the particular situation you’re in, in the result of you getting the acknowledgement, which apparently satisfies modern teenagers.

Today it is important to be on social media, to be online. We have a lot of ways to do it, but at the end it is all about your self-image. Today selfie is a big part of the online world. Through selfies you define what you want people to think about you. So, selfies are most of all front region, because you often post pictures for everyone but yourself. You create something back region, but the minute you post it on Instagram or Facebook you made it public, you made it front region.

Videos go viral, because of the big online world we have today. We watch a funny video on Facebook, which we think is so funny our friends must be tagged. That make us tastemakers, and it creates participating communities. In the video something unexpected happens, and it is like the short story ‘Evidence’, which was posted on Twitter.

Communicating online have changed a lot the past decade. Politicians, novelists and celebrities have participated in this change. Politicians use the social media to create forums, in which the reach their voters. Novelists have started using twitter, due to ex. the unexpectedness, the realness and the fact that their is no middleman/publisher. Celebrities use the social media to advocate certain items - and themselfs. Ordinary people such as me and you have changed as well. We take, and we post selfies like never before. We aim to be perfect, and we aim to get likes - even if it is a retouched selfie we have to post. The social media addiction could possibly be one of the most common accepted addictions - every person under 40 most certainly is an addict. We aren’t able to understand the old-fashioned folks negative attitude towards the online forums. Someday, we may be old-fashioned and narrow minded ourself, because social media keeps evolving. New platforms create new forums, which alter a different way of communicating.

She switched between the accounts to post tweets that after all created a good story with multiple perspectives.

At last we read about how a student came up with multiple ideas of how to change the world with social media. Some of them was about to go viral of the social medias, others was about to be “the person of the year”. We saw a viral video with a boy, who fight himself with a Star wars sword, the video ended up on the internet for bullying, and now he has a lot of money. We have also talked about to be front region or back region, we saw different types of selfies with famous people and then we talk about if they were front or back, it means that you are either private or official. We talk about that we also are front or back region in our everyday, when we are in school or are posting a picture on the social medias we are front/official, and when we are home in our own rooms are we back region/private, because then we can be our self. We use a lot of time on the internet, we are on the social Medias and posting selfies were we look perfect; we are doing it so we can seem new and interesting all the time.

We have seen a video with a man called Andrew Fitzgerald; he talked about have three different peoples are using the Internet, to come out with their stories. It goes faster than ever before, if you are writing your novel to a book, it has to be printed and a lot of other things, before that it would came out to people. And after that it take a lot of time for the readers feedback to came to you, so you could use it and much longer time if you should write a new book, with the feedback. On the Internet, for example on Twitter, could you just write a novel and upload it in a few hours. And the readers could give you feedback as soon as they have read your story. You get the feedback and then you could use it before you write the next novel.

Our subject for the last couple of months has been: ‘’online’’. It has included new knowledge of why we use the internet how we do or why something suddenly goes viral. Examples of this could be ‘The science behind why we take selfies’ which explains to us, why a picture of yourself, even taken by yourself, has increased so much the last couple of years but we also read a story about a final paper that a student wrote to her teacher - she had a whole new way of thinking and he then appeared old-fashioned.

We have got to know a new tool to look through pictures and updates posted online, called front or back region. When and where you are private and when you are formal. With this simple method you have a very good starting point if you want to analyze things on the internet.

In addition I have actually discovered a whole new world of novels and other stories on the internet because they have been posted in a way that I wasn’t aware of before. We have read a story that a writer wrote on twitter from different accounts and thereby formed a story on social media but also a new perspective or way of showing the different angles of the story.

In this course we have had the sub topic called “Online”. We have seen some videos and read some different stories involving the online world. Some have been fiction; others have been real stories or interviews. In the progress, while working with the topic online we have used different learning methods. When reading the article “The science behind why we take selfies” we had to make a podcast. We were split into different groups and then we had to choose who had to be the hostess, the guest and so on. It was a very funny and new way to learn stuff. In the end of the class we listened to all the podcasts and gave each other feedback. One time, we had a virtual class, where we had to watch a video from Ted talks. Fitzgerald, who was the speaker in this video, talked about the different kinds of medias and how they influenced each other. He mentioned that Twitter has begun a new form of area, where writers can write fictional stories on Twitter and then publish it whenever they wanted to. Some of the writers even created fake accounts, so that the stories would seem more real and authentic. We then read a story called “Evidence” where the author had written a twitter fiction story. In the story the author had created some of these fake accounts, so it seemed a bit more authentic. It was really exiting to see how social media platforms have change over time. We keep on finding new ways to improve the media we have and change it, so that it can be used to a whole lot more than what we thought at the beginning. We read an article about front region and back region, which are degrees of public exposure. These terms were redefined, when the internet came to be. :)

Goodbye

Love from Per and Karoline :)))FUE(HFUF

In the online unit, we were taught about all things that are online. First it was selfies sepcifically how we obsess over our looks, and how our self-image is often skewed. We know that selfies have become the greatest photographic trend of our time. We portray ourselves on the social medias through pictures, but specially selfies! Generally, we have an image of ourselves that tends to be younger and more attractive than we are. This might in part explain our obsession with selfies. We can take and retake pictures of ourselves until we can produce an image that come closer to matching our perception of what we think we look like. This was in close relation to front and back region, and how we potray ourselves in images. Then we had about viral videos, and why the go viral. We showed viral videos in class that we had chosen ourselves, and we watched KONY 2012 a power viral video, that started a movement. Then we had about how new formats creates new ideas which creates a new kind of storytelling. After that we about an example of a twitter novel called evidence. And lastly we read the paper, and analyzed how people were portrayed and how you could see front and back region in the paper.
