1) We gave our classmates a token to remind them that they should complete their duty. After they have completed it, they will place that token back in a folder and cancel their name on the duty roster. This token has been effective because most of the time our classmates forget to do their duty and this token serves as a reminder.
2) We have a group reward system. So, that our classmates feel more encouraged to do their duties. The group with the highest points will receive a reward at the end of the term.
3) We created Whatsapp group chats for every group in our duty roster. So we text in that group chat every morning so that they remember to do their duty and we also communicate in that group chat if we are unable to do our duties on a particular day so that we can swap duties. This is very effective as it is easier to communicate with each other.

The class EXCO announced that everyone would have to change the names from their own to the next person in charge of the index number same duty according to seating arrangement. This helped to remind our classmates to do their duty as it is obvious to see who did not change their name from the previous day. Those who are caught not doing their duty will also have to lead the class during PE warm-ups as a forfeit. This method was effective at the beginning of the term but the forfeit was not really implemented so the EXCO could work on this in the future.

2. What were some ways your Class EXCO used to promote class bonding? Were your classmates participative in this initiatives?
Some ways we promoted class bonding were by making the seating arrangement randomized. This way, our classmates were able to interact with others outside of their cliques. We also had a buddy group system which changed every semester. In semester 1, it was by reg. no. We wanted our classmates to get to know their reg. no. buddy better as they would usually be the ones sitting next to them during exams/ ljs/ any other event. Now, in semester 2, our buddy groups are sorted by seating plan. Due to covid, it is now distanced seating which makes it harder for our classmates to bond with their seating deskies so through the buddy groups, they can bond and it will not be awkward when they are grouped together for buddy work. They were generally participative and no one really had any complains about seating arrangement/ buddy groupings.

This has allowed students to be able to create funny drawings and/or play games (such as tic tac toe) with each other using the whiteboard. Additionally, when one of classmates presents/answers a question/is featured during hall assembly etc. , we will encourage or initiate clapping and cheering for them. Both of these have been effective as our class actively use the whiteboard during their free time, and now also automatically clap and cheer for fellow classmates.

1. class duties
In order to encourage our classmates to do their class duties, whenever we notice that our classmates have not been doing their respective duties, we will remind them during morning announcements. Additionally, our class secretary will update on the whiteboard who is doing what duty on what date every morning, hence classmates can easily check when they have to do their duty. Only after they have done their duty can they erase their name on the whiteboard. Otherwise, the name remains there and the person has to do that duty the next day so as to erase the name. Furthermore, we also record the names of those who did not do their duty in an excel sheet. We will remind those who have repeated offenses personally. Yes, they were effective and successful since now almost everyone does their duty, as compared to before.

2+3.

To promote class bonding, our class EXCO has held buddy group sessions during the June holidays to promote class bonding and spirit, facilitated by different EXCO members. During these sessions, the class could play games over a google meet (e.g. Stumble Guys, Scribblio etc.) with their group members or just talk about how they were doing and coping with school, or even discuss their personal interests. We also started the practice where our class claps for our teachers after every lesson. We hope that this will make the class more alert before the next lesson as well as show appreciation for the teachers. Additionally, we have kept the class spotify playlist, where the class are allowed to share their music tastes with classmates in preparation for PPAs for them to listen to while studying or to relieve stress, thus encouraging them to get to know each other better through music. Moreover, we have recently created a class Instagram account which we can post class pictures or events on. This can serve as a platform for the class to share their pictures and memories with their classmates, thus promoting bonding. These methods were quite successful, especially the bonding which was fun and on some occasions, we even extended the sessions.

4.

Currently, we are still facing the problem of not having sufficient participation in class. Sometimes, it is also hard to get the whole class involved in class challenges since some are more and some are less enthusiastic than others.

We enforced the duty roster by placing a poster in our class that reminded students to do their duty. We also regularly reminded our classmates verbally to do their duty! In addition, we came up with a system; when a student does not do her duty for a day she has to take over the duty tomorrow. To ensure that everyone does their class duties diligently, we would assign one class exco member to each day of the week, and she would be responsible for checking if the classmates on duty that day have completed their duty. Our methods have proven to be effective as our classmates have been cooperative and our classroom is now cleaner :)

We placed each fixed group in charge of a class challenge activity, and also celebrated each classmate's birthday by creating a Jamboard with wishes for her. The class EXCO is currently planning for a class party to celebrate our class birthday.

Our classmates were not very participative in these initiatives, probably because the idea was still new and they needed some time to get use to them. It works now!

We allocated the different class challenges to various groups so that we can complete the class challenge effectively and on time. This is done on a voluntary basis and so far, all the class challenges have been covered by using this method. In order to build class spirit, we ensure that all the class challenges are completed well. We would also take photographs on days where we can come in our special clothes to serve as a memory.

We encourage each other in class by having small initiatives planned or by giving each other moral support. For example, exco tries to start by answering question posed in class so that more of our classmates feel confident in answering the question. We also started birthday slides so that our class can have a positive relationship with one another, get to know more about each other and show appreciation! I think they were effective as our class have a positive class culture and we know that we are all here for one another and it is a safe environment for everyone

One problem our exco faced was trying to get the class to be more responsive. Many a time, the teachers would ask classmates questions, but no one would take the initiative to volunteer to answer the question. Despite trying many tactics to get the class to participate more in class discussions, the tactics we used were not very effective.

Another problem we faced was trying to get the class to take lead to participate in class challenges. For example, when decorating the class whiteboard, only one or two people would take initiative to do it. We eventually solved this issue by getting one person to take charge of one class challenge each month, and hence making the class more enthusiastic about participating in challenges, together as a class.
