Regarding yesterday’s question - am I happy or not, no I am not happy. I have a secret that I keep hidden from everyone, and when you asked me yesterday if I ever read any of the books that I burned, yes… I have. I keep a few books hidden in my home, which is totally ironic due to the fact that I burn books for a living. But I guess me still having those books means that my thoughts aren’t entirely controlled by the government, unlike my wife who is addicted to her wall-sized television and seashell radio.

When I met you yesterday on our empty neighbourhood streets, you seemed to catch my eye. You consider yourself crazy, but I prefer to call you unique. You stand out like a light in pure darkness and something about you is incredible. 

I hope we get to meet again someday because I feel like only you can understand me.

As for me, books have been a huge part of my life since I was born. I learned to read at the age of 2, and since then, I’ve obtained a huge amount of knowledge about the world. The words written on those pages are authors’ valuable thoughts copied onto paper. They are based on personal experiences, opinions, and imagination. And the book that I will never forget, the book that I feel is a sin to burn... is the Bible. It is a book like no other because it connects us to God. And because of my religion and beliefs, I promise for the rest of my life to not give in to the new law of Forbidden Books.

Society no longer wants to accept free thought, and they’d rather be controlled by the leaders of our country. People have given up on thinking, and the lack of knowledge in future generations will enable ignorance, which will create people who are easier to manipulate. The government is forcing us to forget the unforgetful. However, there is still a small community of people who are against the law of Forbidden Books, including me. I believe that we shall try our hardest to savour as many books, and as much knowledge from those books, as we can. 

ALLENDALE, CALIFORNIA —  A mechanical hound was accidentally released from the Hound Lab near the Allendale area on Tuesday, killing 5 people and traumatizing all the witnesses. 

Police got a 911 call at around 4:30 p.m., about a mechanical hound that was chaotically running around town, attacking and stabbing people with its four-inch steel needle. Like every other mechanical hound, it injected extensive amounts of morphine and procaine into the victims’ bodies. The police came to stop the hound after it already killed five people. The victims, ranging from 14 to 67 years old, were identified as Jennifer Wilson (25), Courtney Perlas (14), Mike Tofler (54), William Gerdon (33), and Olivia Rikes (67). All prayers go to the victims and their families.

It is unknown how the mechanical hound was released, but the owner of Hound Labs, Kent Norris, states, “I, on behalf of Hound Labs, swear that we were not responsible for the behaviour of Hound 3426. All of our mechanical hounds are manufactured to be intelligent and only serve the right purpose. The hounds are programmed to only punish those citizens who refuse to follow the law of forbidden books. Our prayers go out to all the victims affected.” 

Even though our society is familiar with the mechanical hounds and their purpose, it is uncommon for a hound to attack multiple innocent people at once. However, there may have been a technical difficulty in the programming of one of the hounds, which caused it to go after the wrong target. It isn’t certain that Kent Norris is telling the truth, nor that he knows for sure that none of his workers was responsible for the release of Hound 3426. A detective who was hired by one of the victim’s families was told to investigate the case. More information will be released after the case comes to a close.
