Lead singer of South Korean boyband, Kim Jonghyun died at the young age of 27 in Seoul on Monday, December 18th, 2017, after what was contemplated to be a suicide.
Better known as Jonghyun, Kim's death was confirmed by his management company, SM Entertainment, which said, "We are sorry to share such heartbreaking and tragic news...SHINee's Jonghyun left us suddenly." Gangnam police stated that his death was not being investigated as suspicious since Kim's family had not requested for an autopsy. The police also stated that Jonghyun's sister called them around 6 p.m. to the apartment, after receiving troubling text messages from him. Jonghyun was found unconscious in one of the bedrooms and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was declared 'dead' late in the evening.
Some messages that Jonghyun sent to his sister encompassed, "Please let me go. Tell me I did well." and "Final farewell." The singer has also sent a 47-line message to Jang Hee-yon, his fellow bandmate and dear friend, known as Nine9, with a request to post it to social media "if he disappears from the world." The message said, "I'm broken from inside. The blues that slowly ate at me has finally swallowed me as a whole. I couldn't overcome. I hated myself. Holding on to disappearing memories and screaming at it to wake up. There was no answer. If I can't breathe, it's better to stop."
A member from SM Entertainment stated, "Jonghyun is the best artist who loved music more than anyone else, enjoyed the stage, and loved to communicate with fans through his music. We will always remember you."
Fans payed tribute to Jonghyun in many places and one stated, "To Jonghyun I'd like to say, thank you for all the happiness you have given me and so many others. You worked hard, and you'll be remembered forever." The cremation took place on Tuesday and was a 'silent' one as requested by the family.

Now, my friends, from this story you must have realised that the 'blues' that engulfed Kim Jonghyun was nothing but depression. Depression led him to take such a drastic step. He left such a caring family and wonderful fans behind. Many people make such choices and leave the ones who truly care for them behind. It might seem right in the present moment, but it is not wise. Remember, suicide is the only mistake you won't live to regret.
