The Americans used the forest and Native American techniques to defeat the British according to America the Story of Us. They did this by hiding in the bushes and trees, they had very good rifles to hit the British they were targeting. They had one really good shooter that could supposedly make any shot and they were trying to shoot the general and the first shoot missed, the second shot missed and skimmed the horse, then he tried one more time and then he hit the general right in his head.So the leader of Britain was General General John Burgoyne and The American leader was General Horatio Gates ,they very much wanted to stop each other from getting to the land first. The Saratoga war convinced the french to join the Americans, they lost the battle but then they surrendered. The Americans harassed the British before the War even started like,John Burgoyne set something up to make the mud more hard for them to walk and slowed up their trip .So then they went back to militia headquarters and surrendered to the Americans.

They had a system on how to get information to George Washington in secret. The person who wrote the letters which was wrote in invisible ink which according to America the Story of Us "an advanced formula unknown to the British" was Robert Townsin who lived in New York and when something was said he would write it down so that way the colonist new what was happening. He would then pass it on to another person ,Austin Roe who takes it and buries it in Abraham Woodhull's farm and then he would revile it with liquid iron sulfate. Once he saw what the message was he would tell a lady Anne Smith Strong who would use her clothes which had a meaning behind it and would hang it so a sailor could see it and would take the information to George Washington
