         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br>Watch the video posted below.&nbsp; Then, select a piece of writing (picture book, novel, teacher sample writing, etc.) that can be used as a mentor text in your discipline. 1. Tell why you selected the text and explain the writing focus area/skill you would be teaching students. Discuss why this topic is important for writers to know. 2. Find an example(s) from the text that illustrates the skill you are teaching. Type out the examples (min. 2) in your discussion post. These don't have to be long, just a few sentences that demonstrate the skill. *Counseling and Communicative Disorder Students- Tell how you would use a mentor text during a therapy or counseling session or how you would support a classroom teacher in using a mentor text.<br></strong><br></div>]]></description>
