Sometimes they would ask my mother to write letters for them, trying to find a sponsor in another country. But it was not easy to leave Germany; it took money and a sponsor. Many of the Jews in our village were wealthy, and some did manage to emigrate. But it was very complicated and, for most people, it simply was not possible</div>]]></description>
