The Trail of Tears helps in explaining why the European settlers had a bigger impact on the lives of the Native Americans. The Trail of Tears had many negative effects on the lives of the Cherokee tribe. They were forced to leave their lands that enriched their culture. Over one-third of the Cherokee on the trail died, leaving fewer to pass on their traditions. The reservations they and other natives were moved to caused them to be seen as a minority group among the growing American population.
