In our Kindergarten, we created a bird feeder using natural materials such as orange peels, small sticks, and string. Through this small but meaningful activity, we wanted to help our feathered friends find food during the cold winter days.

We hung it on the tree in front of the schoolyard so that we could watch the visits of our little bird friends from the classroom window.

Students learned about the life cycle of an orange. After eating it, they reused the peel with cloves to make a natural air freshener.
The journey of the orange from nature to table was explored. After consumption, the peels were upcycled with cloves to produce a sustainable room fragrance.

Through these activities in our classroom, we experienced firsthand that no natural resource should go to waste. 🍊 Guided by the "Zero Waste" principle, we transformed orange peels—which usually end up in the trash—into chemical-free natural room fresheners by decorating them with cloves. ✨ At the same time, we raised awareness about food waste by making a healing soup together using leftover vegetables. 🥣 With this project, we aimed to teach our students from a young age how materials we consider "waste" can come back to life through creativity and conscious consumption. 🌍🌱
