The book that I choose was Allegiant. Based on reading and watching the book I can come to the conclusion that the movie was not good. I felt like the movie did not give a accurate plot on the story. Although the movie did give the two major plots of the story(Chicago and Bureau of Genetic Welfare)the movie switched or even left out minor plots. For example in the book, there was suppose to be an attack on the Bureau but in the movie there was no attack. Another example is the setting of the trial in the beginning of the book. The trail in the book was private and at a room in Erudite Headquarters. While the trial in the movie was public and in a abandoned warehouse. The characters were not betrayed in accurate. Only a few characters were an exception. In the story Peter said that he wanted to be a better person. So he takes a serum that wipes his memory and resets it. In the movie however he makes a deal with The Bureau of Investigation to wipe the memories of the citizens of Chicago. To me the movie made Peter the character that will always betray everyone. Also Johanna the leader of Amity was portrayed as more of a violent person then the book. In the book she was concerned about the damage to the city that the Allegiant might do. For example, on page 316 she said" Can you promise me that you will, whenever possible, try to limit the destruction we will cause?

The book I read this summer was “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han. I absolutely loved this book and the movie. This book is about a girl named Lara Jean Covey. She is a hopeless romantic who writes love letters for the boys shes had crushes on. These letters are her most secret possession she has that she keeps in a green hat box in her closet. Then, one day the letters are sent out to all five boys. Soon after, Lara Jean gets herself wrapped into trouble so she tells a lie to cover herself. She says she is dating one of the boys she wrote a letter to: Peter Kavinsky. After many discussions Lara Jean and Peter come up with a plan to convince everyone that they are fake dating. Things quickly start to change when Lara Jean can’t seem to figure out the difference between real feelings and fake ones. Lara Jean has always had people to turn to when things went wrong like her older sister Margo, her dad, her younger sister Kitty, her best friend Chris, and Josh. Until things get awkward and weird between Lara Jean and Josh. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes romance. The main conflict of the story started all because of love letters and there are many romantic parts throughout the book. This book should also be read by people between 7th and 12th grade. There are some references and sections of the book that are inappropriate for younger kids. A quote I really like from this book is on page 120 when Peter says “You need to relax, Lara Jean. Life doesn’t have to be so planned. Just roll with it and let it happen.” This quote means that not everything in your life had to be controlled, it’s good to just live and be a kid. Just go with the flow. Will Lara Jean find her real love or will she not? You have to read to find out!

One of the books I read this summer was “ Blended”. This book was one of the best books I have ever read before. The book is about an eleven year old girl named Isabella who’s mixed. In the beginning of the book her parents are still together but not happy with each other. Soon their fighting gets in the way of their marriage and they are not able to stay together even for Isabella’s sake. As Isabella goes back to school as one of the only African American children she faces many life changing challenges. She also has many other trials such as keeping up with her piano practice, getting along with her new step parents, finding her identity, and learning to cope with splitting her time, love, and entire life for the sake of her parents. Especially considering the fact that this is a very difficult change that has a huge impact in her life.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is on page 308, it says “ I dance my fingers in the air. Faster. Slower. Bass. Treble. Delicate. White keys. Black keys. Blended perfectly.” , I love this quote especially because it explains the whole book and concludes it the perfect way.
There are many characters in the book but here are a few. Isabella is the main character she is a shy girl who is overwhelmed by everything that goes on in her life. Isabella’s dad is an interesting character who is very professional and kind of strict. Isabella’s mom is very sweet loving and hardworking. Isabella’s best friend, Imani is a very strong girl who goes through very difficult challenges that take place in school and follow her home.
I think that altogether that the story has two morals. One is, don’t take for granted all of the things that you have in going for you in life because they can be taken away at anytime. And the other one is, no matter what happens and no matter what anyone says always be confident in who you are because everyone is different for a reason.
Overall this was an amazing book that I highly recommend!

One of the books I read this summer was "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Animal Farm is an allegorical book (metaphorical). This book starts of in 1945 England shortly before the cold war. The story starts with a wise old pig by the name of major who shares with all the animals in the farm his philosophy of how all animals are equal to humans. This ideology is known as Animalism which symbolizes The idea of Communism. Not to far into the book the animals rebel against Farmer Jones and overthrow their master who has no other choice then to leave the farm. The animals then have to figure who the new leader will be and all the rules.

Over the summer, I read the book "DIvergent". Prior to reading this I had watched the movie, so going into the first page I expected to have a good understanding of the plot. For the most part the movie had not strayed far from the general guidelines of the book, including characters, rising action, and conflicts. But the books attention to detail was too precise to replicate. From the gashes on Tris Priors face to the roaring of the Chasm, the movie came very close to achieving this emotional rollercoaster but fell slightly short. The movie exaggerated certain scenes that had been more played down in the book as well as playing down scenes that were performed more excessively. After thinking long and hard, I came to the conclusion that the movie lacked the description that went above and beyond in the book, therefore leading me to believe the book was better. I think that most book-to-movie conversions will never be as successful as original storylines. When an author transfers their ideas through their pens and onto these pages, the big screens may be able to capture as much information from them as possible but will never reach the capacity of intellect on this book from the original authors heads.

The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, By Agatha Christie

Summary: This novel takes place in a small town called Kings Abbot. The narrator of the story is the doctor of the town, and his name is James Sheppard. He has a sister called Caroline, who is very inquisitive and loves to obtain and circulate gossip. That day Mrs.Ferrars, a lady in the town, died of a sleeping medication overdose. The preceding year, her husband died, who Caroline is convinced was murdered by Mrs. Ferrars. A friend of the narrator is Roger Ackroyd, who was married to Ms.Paton, who died, and has a son called Ralph Paton. Roger Ackroyd is suspected of having an affair with Mrs.Ferrars. Roger has a pressing issue to discuss with Dr.Sheppard and invites him to dinner that night. Dr.Sheppard meets Mrs.Russels, who inquires on untraceable poisons. “But, strangely enough, she didn't seem interested in Veronal. Instead, she changed the subject, and asked me if it was true that there were certain poisons so rare as to baffle detection.” Dr.Sheppard, the narrator, also visits Ralph Paton, who wants money from his father, and wants to “Play a lone hand.” Finally, Dr.Sheppard’s neighbor is named Mr.Poirot, who is a retired famous detective. However, no one in town knows that he is a detective, because he is retired, and wants to live a calm peaceful life. Doctor Sheppard arrives at the Ackroyd's house at 7:30. The butler, John Parker, the secretary Geoffrey Raymond, the sister-in-law Mrs.Ackroyd, Flora Ackroyd, who is Mrs.Ackroyd's daughter and Ralph’s fiance, and Major Henry Blunt are at the house too. Roger takes Dr.Sheppard aside to his office stating that Mrs.Ferrars and he had had an affair and that he knew that she had killed her husband a year ago. A week before she died, she told him that they still needed to keep their engagement secret, because she was getting blackmailed. Roger finds her suicide note in the evening mail, and he knows that it contains the name of the blackmailer. Roger doesn’t want to read it in front of Dr.Sheppard, since he thinks it is personal, so Sheppard leaves. When Sheppard leaves the house he meets an unusual stranger. He thinks nothing of it and goes home at 8:50. When he arrives, he gets a phone call that Roger Ackroyd is dead. He immediately rushes back to the house with his medical equipment. At the house, no one knows that Roger is dead. Sheppard, however, insists to check on Roger himself, and when they enter the room they find him stabbed with a knife, the letter containing the blackmailer's name, gone, and Ralph is missing. Can Poirot the famous detective solve this case? Or will the murder go unsolved? Who in the house murdered Roger Ackroyd?

Favorite Quote: This quote is by Poirot on page 146:

“Every one of you in this room is concealing something from me. Yes, yes, I know what I am saying. It may be something unimportant – trivial – which is supposed to have no bearing on the case, but there it is. Each one of you has something to hide. Come now, am I right?”

The reason why this is my favorite quote, is because every person at the house is hiding something, even the narrator, Dr.Sheppard. This displays the idea that everyone at the house that night knows something else, even if it doesn’t seem important, and it demonstrates how each one could have had a motive for the murder.

I would recommend this book to those who love suspense and mystery, since the ending to this book, in my opinion, has the most unpredictable ending than any other book that I have ever read. Although the beginning may seem slightly boring, I promise you that you will be satisfied with the ending.

To read book, Search up:
[PDF]

Agatha Christie - The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd ... - Goodreads

In the PDF, chapter 2 is repeated twice by mistake. It starts with "The geography of Kings Abbot" Skip the first chapter starting off with that. The next chapter after that will start off the same but will actually finish the chapter.

Madeleine L’Engle the author of A Wrinkle in Time does a splendid job conveying the main character, Meg Murry’s, thoughts and feelings in third person. Meg’s teachers at school are considering dropping her a grade and her inability to fit in at school is also bothering her. She neglects the way she looks and has little to no confidence. With all these feelings churning inside of her she has to deal with her father’s disappearance. The only person who seems to accept and understand her is her brother Charles Wallace mostly because of his capability to read her mind. Meg is desperate to find her father so when Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which tell her that her father needs their help Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe soon start their journey to find him. On their adventure they encounter an artificial Intelligence by the name of IT who plays the role of the antagonist. In order to let Meg and Calvin go on Charles has to surrender his mind to IT. After finding her father when it is time to bring Charles back Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which all give her gives. Mrs. Whatsit gives her love, Mrs. Who gives her a blessing in the form of a verse, and Mrs. Which enhances the one thing that she has but IT doesn’t. When Meg is finally facing IT she remembers what Mrs. Which said and realizes that she has the power to love and that she is loved, IT can never take that away from her. She is able to love her younger brother Charles Wallace even when he is trying to hurt her and that is essentially the key she uses to save him. "...I love you..." Mrs. Which mentioned this to Meg, you don;t know why but you know it's important. This book seems a good fit for children and adults, people who support the fact that violence is not the key but evil forces can be stopped with something as simple as love.

Spy School British Invasion by Stuart Gibbs is about a top secret again named Ben Ripley who is trying to take down the evil organization called SYPDER. Ben has just taken down a high asset to SPYDER where he received a key which would unlock all of SPYDER's secrets from every member to life long plans. Zoe, Ben's crush soon finds out that numbers on the key are from typography which was made in the 1850s in London. Erica, who is also Ben's crush figures out that the key much go to a place in London. Erica's mom who lives in London remembers seeing boxes with those combinations in the British Museum. The four of them head out of Mexico (where they were in last book in series) and head to the British Museum in order to open the safe box. Once they sneak into the storage of the museum they find and open the safe box to reveal a single flash drive which would be able to hold more information than all the books in a library. Getting the flash drive and all the information wasn't going to be that easy Jenny Lake, someone who works for another unnamed evil organization and armed men start firing on Ben and his friends. They manage to luckily escaped by the tip of their tongue but unfortunately they could not access the flash drive without a professional hacker and MI6 and the entire London police force was after them for destroying the museum. They soon think of a local hacker who has helped them in past named Orion who could do the job for them. Once ride in the back of a pickup truck to the part of England where Orion lives they sneak into his house and get him to collaborate. Just has they past through the virus on the flash drive and are finally reading the names of all the members of SPYDER, Joshua Hallal and his hit man Dave emerge from the hallway. Joshua and Dane are members of SPYDER who Ben has just taken down but has escaped before they left Mexico. Ben, Zoe, Erica, Catherine (Erica's Mom) and Orion jet out of the room to there only escape route, the helicopter. Joshua has recently lost his arm in an explosion had a special robotic arm that could fire rockets which resulted in the explosion of flash drive leaving them with the information they only remembered. Once again they barely escaped danger and they took off in Orion's private helicopter wondering where to go next in order to take down SPYDER once and for all. Ben remembers seeing the exact points of longitude and latitude that were on the screen before the flash drive exploded which the points led to Paris and that was where SYPDER's HQ was. Using underground tunnels they soon found the entrance to Mr. E's lair, the head of SPYDER. Mr. E tricks them into her being the maid of the house in order to trap them. Will Ben and his friends be able escape from Mr.E and save the world before total destruction? Read the book to find out!

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interest in reading mystery and action packed books. A quote from the book on page 276 "The seconds ticked down to zero.". This shows suspense in the story because you are curious what is going to happen when the clock hits zero, will it make Ben's useless? I hope that quote made you interested what will happen and want to read this amazing book!

Tangerine is a book about a boy named Paul. Paul moved in July to Lake Windsor because his dad got a new job opportunity. When Paul moves there strange things start to happen to him as he sometimes sleeps outside to avoid anyone finding out about him. But the one thing he loves is Soccer. When school starts the strange things that have started to happen to him get even worse as he sometimes skips school just because of everything that is happening. These symptoms soon start to die down and he can go to school normally and have fun with his new friends that he makes. But than when soccer tryouts roll around the strange symptoms he has been experiencing return, and even worse people are starting to notice it. Paul has to make a decision, does he stray away from school and stay away from people so that he can keep himself safe, or does he risk it all and head to tryouts to play the sport he grew up loving. Find out by reading this book! This book is mainly directed towards teenagers and adults since it has difficult vocabulary and situations that take time to comprehend, some parts are easy to understand while some parts take time to comprehend. One quote from this book that I thought showed suspense was a quote that stated, " Paul started to make hiccup noises and started to spin around. He kept spinning to what he thought felt forever but soon he stopped, fell to the ground, and plunged into darkness." I think this quote has some suspense in it and can hook a reader into the story. This quote leaves readers wondering what will happen to Paul and some may be nervous, scared and frightened of what happens next that they feel the urge to read the book. This is a amazing book and I definitely recommend it to anyone in our class.

One of the novels I read this summer was “Five Feet Apart.” This storyline follows two Cystic Fibrosis patients given the rule that they must stand six feet apart at all times to avoid infection. When the two start to form feelings for one another this rule is broken, now allowing each other to not stand just six feet apart but five. The book and the movie were written and released around the same time, therefore they share the same ideas and dialogue. Although, ideas are spared due to the time of the film such as Will’s unsuccessful interaction with his mom or the problems Poe faced with his family’s deportation. However, the two actors share a strong passion towards the film, making the characters perform the same emotions that were portrayed by the book. Additionally, the plot shared similar ideas that were said within the books for instance Stella’s lung transplant. The movie duplicated a large section of dialogue, thoughts, and the setting. In conclusion, the movie did not establish a film that included crucial details, but larger simpler points the audience will view. Character portrayal, setting, and the main plot were identified in the movie. To add, the book included details to build a conclusion and envision the novel, therefore, making the book a better choice.

QB 1, by Mike Lupica is about a fourteen year old freshman at Granger High School, who is trying to come out of his family's shadow. This young athlete is Jake Cullen, who is the son of local football legend Troy Cullen and the little brother of the new starting quarterback at the University of Texas, Wyatt Cullen. Everyone in the town of Granger knows the Cullens because of the state championship that Troy Cullen won as the starting quarterback of the varsity Granger High football team. In addition, both his father and his brother were outstanding playing quarterback at Granger High, each winning state championships. Though, since Wyatt is leaving Granger High School after a memorable comeback win in the state championship game the year before as a senior, Granger High needs a new quarterback. Jake made the Granger High School football team, but was listed as the third-string quarterback. The third-string quarterback is the back-up to the back- up quarterback (second-string quarterback). Though, in the first game of the season, the senior starting quarterback, Tim Mathers went down with a knee injury and sat out for the rest of the season. Jake wasn't happy to see TIm go down with an injury, but with Tim gone, he was now the back- up quarterback, which gave him a better chance to get playing time. With just a few minutes left in the first game of the season, Granger was getting blown out and decided to put Jake in at quarterback. Jake completed a few passes on the drive and ran for a couple of yards too, but on the last play of the game, Jake avoided multiple tackles, rolled out to his left and threw the ball across his body and across the field to Calving Morton for a touchdown. The Granger Cowboys still lost the game by a lot, but at least Jake showed the coaches that he is capable of being the starting quarterback. Next week in practice Jake was competing for the starting quarterback spot on the team, but by the time that the second game came around, he was still on the bench to start the game. Though, since the starting quarterback of the Granger Cowboys, Casey Lindell, was struggling, the coaches put in Jake. Even though Jake struggled all week at practice, he didn't show it, and led the Granger Cowboys to their first win of the season, throwing for two touchdowns. This game got Jake lots of respect from his teammates and his coaches. Fast forward a week, and Jake was the starting quarterback in the next game but played just as bad as Casey did the week before, and by the end of the first quarter, Jake got benched and stayed there for the rest of the game. After the game and for the entire next week, people were telling Jake that he wasn't as good as his brother or his father, which Jake knew, but instead of staying in his father's and his brother's shadow, he started staying later after each practice to put in extra work with Coach Jessup to improve his passing accuracy and his overall quarterback skills. Coach Jessup would start off their workouts by having Jake roll out to either his right or left and hit cones on the run. Then, they would do the same thing, but then Coach Jessup wouldn't tell Jake which cone to hit until he was already running to his right or left, and then Jake would have to find the cone that Coach Jessup told him to hit and try to throw a perfect spiral at it and hit it. After that, they would look at game film of the next team that they were playing, trying to see their defensive patterns. These workouts would ultimately make Jake a smarter quarterback and would improve his passing accuracy and decision making tremendously. Towards the end of the season, Jake would get a concussion, on the play that won the Granger Cowboys their division and would send them into the playoffs, but would return for the state championship game. Will Jake lead the Granger Cowboys to another state championship title? Moreover, by the end of the book , Jake was no longer in his father's or his brother's shadow, and in a picture that someone took of Jake, Wyatt, and their father, they all created one big shadow. For instance, on pages 260-261, it says, "A photographer would snap a picture of the three of them, freezing that moment, Troy Cullen with an arm around the shoulders of each of his sons that would run in the Granger Dispatch on the front page... But it would look in that picture as if the three Cullen Boys had somehow cast a single shadow in the lights of Boone Stadium." Additionally, Jake learned to just be himself and that he didn't have to be his dad or his brother. Moreover, I would recommend this book to children or young adults that are interested in football and want to read an entertaining story about somebody coming out of someone's shadow and creating their own.

wonder talks about how a boy named august how he’s a boy with a face deformation and he’s going through a lot right now since he’s starting his first year of middle school 5th grade. this will be a really challenging experience for august since it's his first time going to a public school instead of being homeschooled by his mom. August through this year experience a lot of tuff moments. The begging of going to school is when August gets a tour by 3 students named Summer, Julian, Jack. These three show August around the school then julian ask august " what happen to your face where you in a accident" this is the first time August gets treated a certain type of way because of his face. Jack and Summer defend august from julian and this made august happy for once having friends to defend him after the first couple of days its hard for august but jack becomes really good friends with him and even sits with him at lunch. Then halloween arrives and August overhears juliet talking about how hes only friends with August because the principal told him he guarantee good grades for jack if he does and calls him a "freak". This hurt august so much that he dint even wanna go trick or treat this year, he eventually talks to summer about this and summer eventually tells jack about it and jack gives his apology by being science partners with august for a project. This made julian mad and him and jack fought. This caused a lot of tension between everyone at the school. Its the end of the year and julian decides to bother august by putting notes in august locker that bothered him but instead of being upset august and jack and summer team up and start doing the same to julian and acting like he has a crush or a secret admirer. The principal eventually notices that julians been putting notes in august locker and expels him and suspends him from going to the nature preserve trip for the end of 5th grade. This meant that jack and August were going with each other. The trip was great but then at night they needed to go to the bathroom so they went out into the woods and while they were heading back they ran into teenagers who were smoking in the woods. They all started making fun of august and cursing him out because of his face so outta nowhere jack throws a rock at them and tells august to run. they both get caught . Suddenly 3 random kids appear and do the same and let jack and august leave the woods with them this showed august his first time having real friends that protect im. After the field trip they went back to school and everyone heard of what happened and they all suddenly became really good friends with August but no one talked to julian. So julian just waited until the end of 5th grade then moved schools. August was very excited for the end of 5th grade there was a graduation and in that graduation August got an award and he gave a speech about the school year and how it was hard for him because of his deformation and all the insults and bullying people gave him. SO after everything that happened everyone finally accepted August as a normal kid and everyone rejected julian.
