I had never used padlet before doing this course, and I have found it a very versatile tool. As part of the VLE module, I produced this Padlet to illustrate how I thought it could be used for a collaborative bookmarking activity. I haven't been able to test it out yet, but I think it could be a good way for students to work together and share their ideas for a discussion/presentation or essay research. It could be an effective way for me to see how students conduct their research as well as checking understanding of the articles/ they are reading as they need to write a summary of the source for the other members of the group.

TED ED

I have used TED Talks in my classes for many years, and had heard of TED ED, but had not used it as a tool in my teaching. I found it was easy to set up and share with students. I have only had the opportunity to try it out on a private student as I am not teaching on any presessional courses at the moment, but I will definitely be using TED ED in the future and I would like to experiment with video ant and Ed puzzle.

I've used technology in the past in my teaching. This has usually included using laptops and phones or setting up class blogs. I have used class blogs to store/place links, set up videos for flipped learning and for students to access all videos used in the lessons to review and revise at a later date. This course has enabled refection on how I have been using technology and to consider the possibilities for improvement. The SAMR model in module 2 has encouraged me to develop student centred learning activities where collaboration is necessary and questions and discussions are student generated.

APPS

I found the 'Is there an app for that?' module very interesting and it has given me many ideas of how I can use mobile phones in the classroom in the future. I decided to create a treasure trail using QR codes for my children with the promise of an Easter egg at the end. It is a tool which I have never used before, and I found that it worked really well. It was much easier to do than I had expected. The QR code below is a link to an episode of Andy's dinosaur adventure which was a clue to the where the next QR code was hidden (near their dinosaur toys). This is a tool that I would like to exploit more in the future in the EAP classroom.

The SAMR model has made me reconsider how and when to use technology in the classroom. I have found that students enjoy the added variety that technology can bring to my lessons. This course has given me more confidence to try new apps and tools. I would like to say thank you to all of the tutors on the course.
