As a young teacher, I came into the profession feeling pretty confident about my knowledge of technology. I had grown up with access to various forms of technology and felt like I was prepared to use it in my classroom. While I do feel that technology integration comes easily for me, I hope to take a few things from this class over the next eight weeks. It is a goal of mine to become a partner in education for my students. I want to have more opportunities in my classroom where the students are at the center of their own learning rather than me being the center of attention for their learning. I hope to discover new tools that foster student creativity, trial and error, collaboration, and digital citizenship all while still learning the academic skill that I want them to master.

Jackson Pride!

I currently live and have lived in Perryville, Missouri all of my life. It was always a dream of mine to teach for the public school district in Perryville. However, as I completed the teacher education program, I had heard and experienced many great things about the Jackson school district and after being a part of that district in my field experiences, I realized that it where I wanted to be. I was fortunate enough to get offered a job at Jackson Middle School my first year teaching and I have not looked back since. Even though I am not Jackson born, the Jackson pride runs deep. I teach 6th grade English Language Arts and absolutely love it! The community is so supportive of the school district. Jackson sees the success of it's children as a group effort. I am so fortunate to be in a place where the community realizes that their children are their greatest asset. And while I still have Perryville pride, I have to admit Jackson has my heart.
GO JACKSON INDIANS!

Coach Thieret

When I was in high school, I was a part of the very successful varsity volleyball program. We won many championships throughout my four years there and I developed a deep passion for the sport and everything it taught me growing up. I decided to not play in college but I realized very quickly that I couldn't be without volleyball completely. An opportunity to coach presented itself when I was 18 and I decided to take it. While coaching was difficult, I completely loved it. I coached at that junior high for three years before I decided to step down so I could focus on my student teaching. After getting hired as a teacher at Jackson, I was shortly after hired as the freshman volleyball coach for the district. The head coach is actually the head coach I had when I was in high school so it was an easy decision for me to make. I have coached at Jackson for three years and have moved up to coaching the JV team. It is so amazing watching these young ladies experience the same things I was able to experience when I played. Even though I love playing volleyball, I think coaching is much more rewarding!
Jackson Volleyball Webpage

In July 2020, I was FINALLY (after COVID pushed our original date back two extra months) able to marry my best friend. Alex and I have been together for 5 years and so happy to finally be married. Our families also live in Perryville. I have four nieces and one dog nephew. My dad's side of the family and my husband's dad's side of the family are very large. We both have many cousins, uncles, and aunts but we wouldn't want it any other way. <3

Technology has turned into a crucial part of my professional life. I am constantly trying to find new ways to use technology to my advantage and the ad=vantage of my students. I use various online discussion tools as a way for my students to collaborate with each other in the classroom but also outside of the classroom. I love using technology as a way for students to show their own version of creativity. I get to know my students in a new way through these outlets.
In my personal life, I generally just use technology on my various social medias in my personal life. I usually find myself looking for online resources for my professional life. I enjoy social media but I would like to find different ways to stay connect with those who I do not see on a regular basis.
