Andrew and his brothers ended up joining the army. Both of his brothers were killed in the American Revolution. His mother was also taken from him by cholera ( a disease that came up during the war effort). He was an orphan at 14 years old. After the war he moved to Charleston, He worked as a school teacher after he finished school for a short period of time.
