    My project doesn't have a logo, so I uploaded a drawing I made of the church here. 

    The project is in Lechovo, a village in the north of Greece.

    February 2022-February 2023

    Since this project is very new, and I'm the first volunteer to ever be in Lechovo, it is still in development. The first few weeks I worked in the local library to help catalogue a english book collection. After that I started to work on gathering information about the community and write about this. Soon I hope to also write and research more about the history of the village. Lechovo is a so-called Martyr Village and has a very interesting past.

    I have a lot of people around me. Since it's such a small village, I'm in contact with most of the people that live here. Besides my mentor, greek teacher and tutor, I am basically adopted by a Greek family. I often talk with grandparents, since many of the older generation have worked in Germany and it's easy with them to communicate. Or with the younger people and their struggles. 

    I love the fact that I really became part of the community here. Everybody is so welcoming, and it's just such an amazing experience to live in such a strong community. To learn more about their culture and their traditions. It's very special to be part of that.

    Summary of the organisations (aim, activities, target group): Our purpose is the utilization of free time, informing young people about international and national programs, and the encouragement of their active participation along with their European citizenship
    My activities:
    · Organize and support national programs of the partner municipalities, heritage protection activities of the environment, and organizing summer events, festivals, concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions in cooperation with the local municipalities.
    · Develop solidarity and promote tolerance and understanding among young people in different countries through formal/non-formal learning techniques and experiences.
    · Administration and informing of short-term project participants.
    · Working with SoMe platforms and organizations, E-magazine.
    Working Hours: 9:30 am till 2 pm

  • Name of my organisation: Youth Center of Epirus (YC Epirus)

    • Location: Ioannina

    • ESC dates (start - end): March 2022 - September 2022.

    • Summary of the organisations (aim, activities, target group):The YC Epirus is a non-profit organization located in Ioannina, in the heart of the Epirus region. It hosts departments of young adult non-formal education and asylum seeker integration. Currently, YC Epirus accommodates 38 teenagers from Middle-East countries, providing care, protection and a safe place to ensure the smooth coming of age for the unaccompanied under-aged asylum seekers.

    • My activities: to plan and lead workshop of non formal education with the teenagers, who do not speak English for the most part. So we must be creative! The second part of my activities is to make some content creations, as a whole documentary about the Epirus region with my colleague Mathys.

    • Working Hours: 10h00-18h00.

    • People arround me (ESC staff, mentor, other ESC volunteers, local volunteers): many volunteers who come and go, all the staff from the office and from the Facility with the teenagers, our mentor in Ioannina.

    • What I love about my project: I enjoy the fact that I can split my working time in two of my favorite job, social work and content creation. I also love the team who support me, I'm very lucky to be with such nice and interesting peolpe.

    Summary of the organisations (aim, activities, target group):
     The aim of the activities of the organisation is to develop tools and practices to enhance resilience and self suffiency of individuals and / or communities, while supporting the people of the communities through the transition to a sustainable and more equilibrate lifestyle. This is obtained with the sperimentation and implementation of the practice of permaculture as a mean of subsistence, in a big garden in this small town outside of Athens called Nea Makri. The organisation also conducts workshops with migrant communities and other kinds of learning activities.
         My activities:  
    Taking care of the main vegetable garden , of the aromatic herbs gardens, of the olive and fruit trees orchards, composting, seed and seedling activities in the greenhouse, and all sorts of maintenance of the garden, irrigation systems etc.
    Working Hours:  
    5 or 6 hours from monday to friday.
    People arround me (ESC staff, mentor, other ESC volunteers, local volunteers): 
    Around me there are 3 other volunteers : Valentina, Marco and Isu. Kostas and Foutini as coordinators, and Maria as our mentor.
    What I love about my project: 
    The location is absolutely breath taking, immersed in the nature, with a view of the seaside! Permaculture is an extremely fascinating tecnique for producing food, and gives me a deeper connection to what I am eating, the nature that provides me this food, and what I am ultimately.
    What I would like to change in my project:
     Nothing, the scope of the project reflects accurately what happens on the ground, and I am absolutely enjoying it!

The main objectives of the organization are to provide psychosocial support, to combat the social exclusion of vulnerable groups of the population, to provide psychological and counseling services, to create equal opportunities and new perspectives for vulnerable groups of the population, to promote mental health, to provide psychiatric care in the Community

    • My activities:  My activity is in the "Connect Your City" section, which is non-profit association that organises programs and actions to contribute to the personal  and professional development of young people and the community, by interacting with each other. Throughout time, Connect Your City offers every young person the opportunity to identify themselves, discover and showcase their skills through educational programs and creative activities, to mobilise, socialise and create.to plan and lead project and workshop of non formal education about ecology, to use the social media to raise awaraness about wellness in a holistic approach

    • Working Hours: 10h00-16h00.

    • People arround me (ESC staff, mentor, other ESC volunteers, local volunteers): 2 ESC volunteers, many local volunteers, all the staff from the office, other NGO and our mentor in Helena and our coordinator Ioanna. 

    • What I love about my project: I enjoy the fact that I can create workshop about important problematic that interested me, that I have the opportunity to raise awareness about ecology, and that I can be creative in the social media.

      - Provide to volunteers the opportunity to work in various sectors ; with animals, disabled people, in communication or marketing.
      - Also, K.A.NE created the youth center of Klamata where young people can learn art, a new language or just relax.

    • My activities:  I am working in Communication and Marketing, preparing my personal project (local guide), teaching French in the Youth Center.
