This book is all about a boy names Rick going to middle school and starting to wonder about his identity regarding who he is attracted to or if he is attracted to anyone at all. They end up being the bigger people and helping the singer even though she is not very nice which is imporatn for kids to learn that sometimes you have to be the bigger person. This story is incredibly important as it addresses real life issues in an age appropriate way and how to stand up against what is wrong even if it is among those closest to you. This book is all about a girl Yumi Chung and the wild story of how she ends up living a double life one summer. Her family needs her to get a scholarship at her school to be able to continue being able to afford to go there so she spends her summer going to an intense study class to pass the test she needs to pass. However after class one day she stumbles into a stand up comedy camp hosted by her favorite comedian and she somehow ends up accidentally claiming someone else's identity. This story follows her through her passions and hardwork of stand up comedy which she loves and through her ability to work harder as a student. While it does have some twists and turns following ones passions and trying to find their voice is something that many children her she can relate to. In the end she comes up with some great ideas and also does confess the lies she told.
