For Me: Would like to integrate at least 3 DBQ's for each of my EPI semesters, be they the same ones or different ones to see which ones are most effective for the curriculum.

For the school: Would like to see all teachers in the department use at least 2 but up to 4. There has already been integration by some teachers in the past, this year we are using them as credit recovery since we have a large portion of the student body failing. Additionally, students have a difficult time writing, and since we are trying to gear students up for college writing (but much of this is applicable in the business world) the DBQ method would be beneficial for our students in preparing for all of their future steps.

I want to continue to implement DBQs in my classroom in a variety of ways, but ultimately plan for one full DBQ with essay per quarter in World History. As a department, I'd like to see increased use of DBQs across all levels and content areas. In addition to the use of DBQs, I'd like my department members to co-plan ahead of time to discuss how to approach the documents and scaffold appropriately for various levels.

Over the past four years we have developed vertical teaming strategies in the department. One of those strategies is having the students write a DBQ per quarter in every Social Studies class at every level. These resources will provide the scaffolding needed for the non-AP classes as well as clean versions for those students already possessing the necessary skills. This will also allow continuity within the department as well as uniform expectations.
