She had two older siblings: Leon and Cecilia. Her biggest passion were secrets and words. She witnesses Cecilia and the son of their charlady having an affair and misunderstands the situation. This causes her to think that the man, Robbie, wanted to rape her sister. Later, when her cousin is raped, she has no proof, but blames Robbie. This event makes a relationship between Cecilia and Robbie be impossible. As they grow up, WW2 starts getting closer and closer. However, Briony's accusation changes their plans to be together. When Robbie is accused of raping Cecilia's cousin, Lola, Cecilia is the only one who stands by him, insisting on his innocence. He participated as a soldier in World War Two. Before that, he went to jail as he was wrongly accused of raping by Briony Tallis. Robbie Turner was the son of the Tallis charlady. As children they were too young and innocent to recognize any social difference between themselves and Robbie was close friends with the Tallis. Robbie is described as being very handsome and quite intelligent. Although most of the times he was ignored by Cecilia at Cambridge, Robbie sends a letter to her announcing his love for her and she falls in love with him. The accusations of Briony make him be furious at Cecilia's sister and never forgives the girl.
