When I think of you I think about sweets (you always had them in your bag and they never seem to run out). When I think of you I can't help but imagine you tearing up over something. Which is to say I think that you care about things; that you love deeply. And the tears that I sometimes imagine you having are just love that refuses to be contained. 

I've come across this lovely phrase, 'loved into being.' I heard it on a podcast and I did some digging on who the phrase is attributed to, popularly it seems to be attributed to Fred Rogers (he hosted a popular children's program on the television).  But back to phrase 'loved into being' I've been thinking about it recently. I like how the words imply that we exist today only because others have loved us into this moment. All of this obviously is just a winded way of saying that you are one of the people who I think has loved me into being, and into this moment. Thank you for that.

Now, this has gotten a bit long. And a lot dramatic. And now I'm not sure if this would make a good or bad Hallmark card. But really, I just want to wish you a Happy Birthday. Thank you for the beer. Thank you for the sweets. Thank you for loving me into this moment. I am glad that you were born today. I miss you very much because I love you. But I take comfort in knowing that you are safe and with your family. And that when we are living in better days, when THIS finally ends, I will see you again.
