1. What factors influenced the rapid urbanization of Shenzen?
1a: The SEZ allowed Shenzhens creation to be subsidised and therefore growth could be executed much quicker.

1b: The proximity of British Hong Kong and the South China Sea, provides a gateway to the rest of the Asian markets and the rest of world. The creation of Shenzhen as a rival trading hub allows China to compete with Hong Kong and Singapore.

1c: The policies implemented by the Chinese government in the 1980s, opened communist China up to the rest of the world and allowed TNCs to  take a foot-hold in the growing urban area.

2. What problems have been created by the rapid urbanization of Shenzen?
