The film and text version were somewhat different from each other. The film followed lines from the text well, but didn't have as many details. The text includes a narrator to talk about the thoughts and feelings of the characters and adds more details. The film on the other hand, doesn't include as many details and scenes, so it was a little less interesting to watch. The text talks about two hundred pounds, and the film talks about three hundred. The film also shows the mother fainting when she found out her son passed away, but that didn't happen in the text.

The film version of "The Monkey Paw" is departed. At the beginning of the film it introduce Sergeant- Major Morris at an unknown place during the night. There were people around him saying a spell while the man in front of Morris started to move his hand in circle over a brown box. The old man give Morris the monkey paw, and Morris looked frighten. The rest of the video was the same like Herbert got caught in the machinery, and the part where Herbert father knows what is going to happen next if he bring his son alive. I would prefer the film version because it's more entertaining with the scary music in the background. I like part of the video where the parents found out that Herbert died in the machinery, and the part where Herbert mother fainted.

The film of the "Monkey's Paw was slightly different than the story. In the article it states," 'I wish for two hundred pounds' " (Jacobs 268). While this is said in the story version, in the film, it stated Mr. White wished for three hundred pounds. Another example of the film being different is stated in the article,"A cold wind rushes up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his wife gave him the courage to run down to her side'' ( Jacobs 278). This quote shows that the couple was very sad at the end, while in the film version it showed each character dead. I prefer the story version because it shows more details and descriptions.

Also in the film the whole family dies in the end in the story the husband and wife mourn the loss of their son, and that is the end of the story.

The film of "The Monkeys Paw" had some noticeable differences compared to the text. The most distinct one was that the first wish was for three-hundred pounds instead of two-hundred pounds, as well as the payment from the Maw and Meggins company. Also, it showed the fakir placing the spell on the monkeys paw, then handing it to Sergeant Major-Morris. When reading the text, you had no perception of what "The Monkeys Paw" is supposed to represent. I think if someone reads the text and does not watch the short film, they would enjoy the whole concept of the monkeys paw much more, due to the poor acting.

One example being between the story version was when they said, "'I wish for two hundred pounds,' said the old man distinctly." (W.W 268) Following up with the film version he said, "I wish for three hundred pounds." Based on these two pieces of evidence, readers or watchers can tell the difference. In the written story the characters asked for 200 pounds while in the film, the characters asked for 300 pounds.

*Although not major, some lines of dialogue are changed in the movie version to make fit better as a film. EX: "A spell was cast. . ." VS "A curse was put. . . ."*
The movie version of "The Monkey's Paw" departed mildly from the story version. First, the story describes Mr. and Mrs. White as being old, while in the film they appear as they are in their Late 30's. Second, in the film, a flashback showing when Morris first found the monkey's paw is shown, while in the story, no details are given whatsoever about Morris' first encounter with the paw. Last, in the film, it fast forwards to a year after the story ends. What is shown is very grim. We see Mrs. White's tombstone right next to Herbert's. Then, the camera draws back to reveal Mr. White, lying dead in front of the graves. We then switch to an overhead shot of the scene, which unveils that the monkey's paw atop of Mrs. White's grave. Narration, presumably by Mr. White, then becomes audible. "It is finished," Mr. White narrates, "The retched paw is finished with us". I perfered the movie version, because more detail and insight is given to the lore of the story, and the epilogue took me by surprise, so the filmmakers did their job.

he film of "Monkey's Paw" was departed from the text version. In the text, similarly to the film, the first wish was for pounds. In the text, it had said 200 pounds. In the film, it had said 300 pounds. According to the text, it says, "Two hundred pounds, was the answer" (Jacobs273). The text had a more descriptive way of showing the events taking place. But, the film wasn't as interesting and descriptive for the reader to take in. I prefer the text version because its more descriptive and suspense of wanting to read more of whats going on.
