I will ask them questions such as how are you feeling and how do you feel about the last unit we studied? I put these in as quizzes/surveys in Canvas and ask that each student answer the questions truthfully and thoughtfully. I get a lot of great honest answers, and the students know I am the only one to see those answers. I also make sure I read every answer and adjust my teaching. For example, in Geometry I had a unit go really sideways. I did what I thought the students asked for, which was working together and doing examples together. My students seem to have an aversion to tech, so I got out my doc cam and had them work along with pencil and paper. I switched gears after feedback and did a PearDeck activity and it was like night and day with the students! They much preferred the PearDeck over my previous attempt.
