It was rare for me to speak at all. I think this is because I learned that boys need to joke around and make fun of others. Since I am not naturally aggressive and I didn't want to give anyone ammunition to "joke around" with me I just didn't speak much. I think that affected my ability to communicate and develop social skills greatly. There is an emphasis on "sinning" sometimes in Christianity. When you are young and you don't understand all of the rules and everyone you know is "perfect", except for you, it makes you feel alienated. You have no one to admit to that you are not willing to do everything it takes to be "perfect" and that creates an anticipation that people will find out you are a terrible person. I eventually learned though that everyone is imperfect and that one of the main points of Christianity is to be accepting and supporting of other people. The only problems that exist are our own problems and they are the biggest problems around. To be fair this could probably be any first world country but I live in the United States of America. I think that growing up in a time of technology has made me fascinated with it. I chose computer science as a career because of all of the technology around me and the fact that it is fairly easily accessible to learn. I also really love aeronautics and space flight though. One downside to all of the technology has been that I think it has impeded my desire to think critically. This has made a big impact on how I view the world. Since attending college I have realized that I actually enjoy learning. I hated grade school and thought it would be the best thing ever when I was done, but since attending college I have found there is a certain satisfaction that comes from learning and understanding new things. I have also had opportunities to connect with my peers in classes and develop collaboration skills. Lastly it has pushed me to learn and appreciate topics that I would not have otherwise pursued on my own. For instance it has pushed me to learn about other cultures and the importance of communication.
