Our game is focused on the evolution topic of variation in species. Variation in species is the difference between each individual organism within a specific species. the species that we will focus on in this game is butterfly. There are four different variations of butterflies in this game, all that have a variety of strengths and weaknesses. These include wind resistance, speed, night vision, and camouflage. This game focus’ on the migration of butterflies from Canada to Mexico, this is one of the migration route that butterflies take when they migrate. The butterflies face different challenges as they travel from Canada to Mexico, depending on their stats and abilities. The players will be able to see the challenges by the different colors of the region. The players will have to get passed the challenges by getting a card to get out of the region. They move from challenge to challenge by getting cards and moving forward. The winner will be determine who wins if a player gets to Mexico first.

This is a game that demonstrates the concept of variation though the theme of butterflies migrating across the country. Players start their variation of butterflies in Ontario and then migrate across the board to Mexico.

Each colored region on the board will have a different challenge that makes it difficult to make it to Mexico. Each region will have a stat card that tells each butterfly species how they ae affected by that region. Each region is unique to one butterfly species and that will help that species of butterfly.

This game demonstrates the concept of Variation in species through the mechanics of an engaging, competitive board game. It shows how variation in species can help or hinder organisms.

Have you ever heard of a board game about butterflies migrating. Well let me show you it in our new board game “Variation in Migration”. I am Adonis and this is Danyal (vice versa), and we are students of P-TECH. We created this game to teach others about one of the four principles that Darwin created for evolution. The goal of the game is to get your species of butterfly from Ontario to Mexico before another species does, but look out!! There are many environmental challenges along the way. Each player will go through different colored regions unique to on of the butterfly species. When a player goes through theeir own color there will be a positive effect. When a player goes through a different color there will be a negative effect. You can play this game with up to 3 other players and it takes roughly 40 minutes to play. The recommended age to play this game is 8+. We would love for you to play it, thank you for your time.

Target audience (age): 8+

Number of players: 4
