In our first week, the professor introduced the course structure, expectations, and assessment methods. We learned about Public Procurement, focusing on its role in the economy and the importance of transparency in the process. We also discussed where the money for public procurement comes from, mainly taxpayer revenue and government budgets. Looking forward to more insights in the coming weeks!

This week, I learned that there are laws that help make sure public buying (called procurement!) is fair and legal in Ontario and all of Canada. We read about real rules and court cases, like the one called Ron Engineering (sounds like a superhero name, right?). It showed how important it is to follow the rules when buying stuff with public money. We also started our Midterm Case and kept working on our big SILEx project. Busy, busy!

This week, we worked on a group project about public agencies and presented our findings in class. It was a great experience collaborating and learning about how these agencies function. Our professor also covered Cooperative Purchasing, explaining what it is, its benefits, and the challenges it presents. It was an insightful week, and I look forward to learning more!

This week, I learned about something called the BPS Directive. It's a big rulebook that tells public places like schools and hospitals how to spend money fairly. No cheating or picking favorites!

I also learned about trade agreements, which are deals between places to make buying and selling fair, even between provinces or countries.

And we got to hear about our SILEx project a cool assignment where we help a real organization. I think it’s gonna be awesome!

This week was all about teamwork! 🤝

We already did our own part of the Midterm Case, and now we worked with our groups to put it all together. We made an Executive Summary (that’s a fancy way of saying “the important stuff in one spot”).

Our teacher came around to help, so being in class really mattered. We also kept going on our big SILEx project. Almost halfway there! 😄

This week, I learned how public places buy stuff they need — like chairs, computers, or even toilet paper!

They use something called competitive bidding, which is like a fair contest where companies try to win the job by offering the best deal. We learned when, why, and how they do this, and what tools they use to make it all work.

We’re still working hard on our SILEx project too. Almost there!

This week, I learned how to figure out what people need and how to write it down the right way — it’s called writing specifications!

We practiced being both the customer and the procurement person so we could see how they work together to get the right stuff.

This week, I learned how to pick the best person or company when buying stuff for public places.

We talked about evaluation criteria — that’s a fancy way of saying how we judge who’s best for the job. There are different ways to score, and we even looked at real documents that public agencies use.

We also sent in a rough draft of our SILEx project (if we wanted), and yup, still working hard on that too!

This week was all about doing the right thing! 👍

We learned how people in public jobs have to be super honest and fair when buying stuff. No cheating, lying, or sneaky stuff allowed!

We saw real examples of fraud and how it changed the rules. It’s important to always make good choices even when no one’s watching.

Still working hard on our SILEx project too! Almost done!

This week was all about practice, practice, practice!

Our group worked together to rehearse our SILEx presentation and gave each other feedback. It was fun seeing what other groups were doing too!

We also handed in our SILEx report woohoo! One big thing off the list. Almost at the finish line! 😄

This week was presentation time!

Our group finally got to share our SILEx project with the class. It was awesome to see everyone’s hard work pay off. We practiced speaking clearly, showing our research, and responding to questions from other groups.

We also turned in our presentation slides and peer evaluations (basically a scorecard for how well we worked together).

Now, just a little more to finish, and the reflection is next!

This week, I learned that contracts are super important in public procurement. But the work doesn’t end once a contract is signed! After that, we have to make sure the supplier relationship goes well. It’s like keeping a good friendship going after you agree to do something together.

We also talked about why contracts are needed, how they are awarded, and how to manage suppliers so everything stays smooth.

And of course, I kept working on my reflection, almost done!

This week, there was no class (yay for a break!), but we still had some work to do. I spent the time catching up on anything I missed and reviewing all the stuff we’ve learned this semester. 📝
