Aside from his immediate family members, Daryl was asked which one of our extended family he wanted to include and he said without hesitation, “Ah Gong!” (paternal grandfather). He was able to accurately point out the differences between himself, Daddy and Mummy (“Daryl and Daddy has short hair, mummy has long hair!”) and as for Ah Gong, his hair is not black but grey and less than Daryl and Daddy’s hair!

Daryl's Eco robot

Upon seeing the toilet paper rolls, Daryl expressed that they can be used to make legs and arms because of their length. He was a bit more mystified on what material to use for the body, and daddy and mummy suggested an old tissue box. Finally, he suggested using an old Vitagen bottle as the robot's head, after drawing a face on the head.

Daryl in Japan

Daryl wanted to make snow-capped mountains and buildings - a scene that he remembered from a family holiday to Mt Fuji in Japan back in 2024. To simplify the process of making the mountains, Daryl suggested using small bowls or containers to set the shape, and toilet rolls for buildings which he decorated himself with doors and windows. Daddy suggested making a river with the blue clay and grass with the green clay, and Daryl suggested white clay for the snow on top of the mountains. Finally he suggested that one of the mountains could also be an active volcano, with “lava” (red pipecleaners) spilling out of it.

As a finishing touch, Daryl wanted to put a few old silicone sticky men in the scene to resemble the people living and working around Mt Fuji.

Rocket Ship playground

This is a rocket ship playground beside E-bridge school. We used a plastic bottle as the rocket body; straws as the slide; clay as the windows. Alaric loves to mix colour. He mixed the clay colour to create earth, sun, and volcano. And mentioned there is gravity on earth. Overall, he enjoyed the activity.

Changi Airport

Jaylen loves transportation and he is always very excited about taking aeroplanes to different countries. When asked what would he like to make for this term, he immediately says Changi Airport.

Started off with the grass patches and flowers, he moved on to make the aeroplanes with our assistance.

Daryl’s tree

While walking home from school one day, Daryl pointed out that the leaves on trees are not always green in colour. Sometimes they are brown, yellow and some can even be red! So came his inspiration for his project. As there was no brown coloured paper provided, Daryl used his coloured pencils to add in some brown. Finally, he used an interesting-looking leaf he picked up from the ground to represent a snake in the ground - which does turn up in this area from time to time. He also penciled in some additional details such as the sun and stars to beautify his artwork.

She enjoys experimenting with different shapes, colours, and arrangements to create her own unique designs. Through this activity, Arissa demonstrates imagination and confidence in expressing her ideas visually. She also shows growing control and coordination as she carefully places and glues the paper pieces to form patterns and images.

Alaric loves rainbow. So he has decided to do up a rainbow design and drew some birds. This activity requires patience from cutting to pasting pieces of coloured paper. I see he has tried his best to maintain focus on finishing the activity.
