The main issues with our problem it is killing off some of the types of fish in the water. Also the trophic cascade is falling apart because the plants around the Ohio river are being polluted. The birds are feeding of of the polluted things because they cant tell what is food and what is not. Ecosystem services are being affected because when the humans go down there they don't have a clean environment. This just proves to us that the animals have to breath dirty air everyday. This is affecting public health because if humans breathe to much of this then it can make them sick. These things need to be solved.
It has been on the top 3 nationally polluted areas for the past couple of years.

"Mercury is a potent neurotoxin that impairs fetal brain development and harms children. ELPC and our allies are asking ORSANCO to uphold its ban on industrial mercury “mixing zones.” The ban was passed in 2003 and expected to go into effect in 2013, but the Commission has been delaying implementation and granting exemptions to many companies." This is a ban that dosent let mixing companies put there waste into the river.
http://elpc.org/issues/clean-water/ohio-river/

Strengths: Less pollution is getting into the water and harming people

Weaknesses: Some mixing companies don't care about the ban, its more then just them polluting the water, outside people are polluting it more than mixing companies are.

Make dromes that scan the water for trash and then they will signal other robots to come pick the garbage up. And another type of drome will scan the water for chemicals and then they will drain the chemicals out of the water.
We would place a filter where the companies are directly draining the water. The dromes would send notifications to the company telling them about there fines for polluting the water. `
