Good Omens is a comedic story about a Crowley, a demon, and Aziraphale, an angel, who have known each other since the dawn of time. They are supposed to be enemies, but over time they have grown attached to the humans on Earth, and they are on surprisingly good terms. So you can expect their reactions when their higher ups told them that Armageddon was coming on Saturday. Therefore, they decide to join forces to stop the end of the world, but first they need to recover the 11 year old Antichrist. The story is a wild ride, with actually accurate prophecies, colorful characters, and an intense battle between "Good" and "Evil". After the world was saved, and all was said and done, Heaven and Hell were not happy. They brought both of their most powerful underlings to Earth, and in the end, the Antichrist abandoned his position. Adam, aka the Antichrist, decided that he did not want to be an all powerful being that is meant to bring forth Armageddon, he just wanted to have a normal childhood. After he left, Heaven and Hell did not know what to do, so they gave up on their pursuit. Surprisingly, the effects of Armageddon were reversed, and the people who were still alive went back to their old lives.

Gaiman and Pratchett used irony in Good Omens to show that it does not matter if aspects of one's life are predetermined by someone else, they can still blaze their own trail, and find their own purpose in life. For example, Adam was supposed to be the Antichrist that was destined to end the world. He was preprogramed with immense power that can end the world at his will, even if he did not realize it. Adam did almost end the world with his power because he was so drunk with the feeling of being powerful, and he allowed his emotions to get the better of him. However, after the world was saved, he did not try to fight back or try again, because he realized that he did not actually desire to bring forth Armageddon. He just wanted to spend his childhood with his four friends. He was so blinded by the discovery of this power that he forgot what he truly wanted. Therefore, he made the unexpected and somewhat reckless decision to walk away from being the Antichrist, Nobody had any idea what was going to happen, but it ended up working out in his favor.

Good Omens is a enjoyable book because of its cast of interesting characters, comedic storytelling, and a plot that keeps you on your toes. Gaiman and Pratchett get you immersed into this semi-realistic universe and invested in the story through fantastic worldbuilding, and by showing the humanity in every character. It also has a powerful message conveyed through an detailed plot. All in all, it was an entertaining book that has definitely become one of my favorites. Even though this was an impressive book, I have some critiques for it as well. For example, even though the book had a great message, I felt the ending was very underwhelming. It seems awfully convenient for the Antichrist to just be able to walk away and the effects of Armageddon to just be reversed. It just felt like the authors ran out of ideas and decided cut it short.
Overall, I had a terrific time reading Good Omens, but it had its flaws.
Before reading Good Omens, I was looking forward to reading the book, but I also had a lot of questions, such as, how could one exactly misplace the Antichrist? While I was reading the book, my questions increased with every page I turned. Now after reading this book, the only question I really have is, I wonder where the characters are in their lives now. I know that they are not real people and this question will never be answered. However, I still think of them from time to time, and I just hope they are doing alright.
All in all, I had an amazing time reading this book, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants some chuckles, and some complex characters to get invested in.

Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett are two British authors, who met each other through Gaiman emailing Pratchett a short story he wrote asking him what he thought about it. Gaiman did not know how to feel, and neither did Pratchett. Until Terry called Neil about a year later to say, "I don't know how it ends, but I do know what happens next." This led to them writing the book very chaotically, aka excitedly talking on the phone for hours on end, and sending a floppy disk to each other every few days to show the other their work. When the book got published, they did not think that it would sell. Yet, it became a best seller, selling millions of copies around the world. Not to mention, it even got its own TV show. Both of the authors haved moved on from Good Omens; however, they both enjoyed working together, and they have fond memories of the project.
