At Heasley Elementary School, we teach the 4 Core Subjects: Language Arts, such as Reading, writing, and communication skills. Mathematics, such as Problem-solving. Science teaches students observation skills and experimentation. Social Studies teaches the understanding of history, geography, culture, and citizenship. In addition, we also promote social and emotional learning (SEL) to develop students' emotional intelligence and responsible decision-making. We also have extracurricular activities, including clubs, sports, and arts, to encourage the learning experience (Kuwar, 2024).

Heasley Elementary School proudly welcomes any student from any background or disability. We utilize diverse teaching strategies, such as cooperative learning and direct instruction approaches, to cater to different learning styles and preferences. One of our goals is to make every student feel welcome and comfortable. We also use incorporate visual and auditory activities in lessons to engage students at various levels. For example, using videos, group discussions, hands-on activities, and technology can help reach a wider audience.

We have pre-assessments to determine students' current knowledge and skills. Based on the results, we adjust activities and lessons that challenge the students but do not overwhelm students. We start off by giving direct instruction, move to guided practice, and slowly shift to independent practice that allows students to demonstrate their learning. We also incorporate diverse perspectives by using texts and resources that reflect the diverse cultures and backgrounds of students. We do this in hopes of students feeling appreciation and understanding. We follow IEPs for students with disabilities and provide them with any required accommodations, such as extended time for assignments. We establish and communicate our behavioral expectations very clearly at the beginning of the school year, and remind students throughout the year of appropriate school behavior, and encourage positive behavior with rewards such as pizza parties or fun events.

Heasley's Elementary School encourages the involvement of parents and community leaders to join our school's counsel.

The counsel allows community members to have a voice in decision-making, and the school can address any specific needs and preferences of the families it serves. Our school runs many fundraisers and receives sponsors, which allows us to pay for our student's extracurricular activities and ensures that all students have equal opportunities to participate regardless of their financial background. This can enhance social mobility, allowing students from lower-income families to benefit from the same opportunities as students who come from wealthier families.

In today's time, Technology plays an important role, and having children learn how to use technology is an important skill to have so they can succeed further in life. Cell phones are not allowed, but at Heasley Elementary School, all teachers and students have access to Chromebooks. Additionally, special tech instructors have access to tablets as well for students with disabilities. Our elementary school takes safety very seriously; that being said, all students will learn the clear expectations with technology, such as appropriate behavior and safety. We encourage students who are new to technology to ask questions so they can fully understand and further develop their tech skills.

Our school sends our students home with papers and fliers that list special events each month such as open houses, family BBQs, fundraisers, bake sales, sponsorships, school fairs, holiday events, and more fun and family-friendly activities for the students and their households. Doing so also welcomes parents/ guardians to the environment that they send their children to every day. It opens up chances for them to meet teachers/ specialists and see what their children do all day. This also helps create more responsibility and some level of leadership for the students because they are responsible for bringing home the fliers. Events are also on our school's website.

This project turned out to be more challenging than I thought it was going to be. Even though I thought of most of it, it was hard trying to answer each question thoroughly. There were multiple times when I got stuck, like writer's block, and my mind went blank. The overall idea of the project sounds fun, though, at least until I couldn't think of an answer sometimes.
