A presentation of favorite group games, played with friends in the neighborhood, will connect the past and the present, fun with physical activity and live communication.

"Water and Fire" is the name of one popular game in Romania. It is very similar to the American game, "Hot and Cold." One player leaves the room. When he has left, the other players hide an object. The seeker returns to the room to find the object guided only by clues from other players such as "fire" if he is close, or "water" if he is farther away.

 

This game requires a large group of children. An angel, a devil, and a gardener are selected. The angel and devil move away from the main group and the gardener gives the other children the names of flowers. The angel arrives and asks for a specific flower. If one of the children is named for that flower, he must leave with the angel; otherwise, the angel leaves alone. Then, it's the devil's turn to ask for a certain flower. The winner is the player with the most flowers.

In this game, a child is blindfolded. The other players form a circle around her. This player must try to recognize the other players by touching them. Players who are recognized must join her in the center of the circle, and the game continues.

This game is similar to "Musical Chairs" in the U.S. The children sit on chairs or other objects in a circle. One person is in the center. This person recites a poem and when finished, everyone trades places to find another seat. The person who is left without a seat must go to the center to recite a poem.

The game of Hide and Seek is played in countries throughout the world. The rules are simple for even the youngest child to understand, and although this game is geared towards them, it can be great fun for all ages.

Materials

What you'll need for this game is a space that is big enough for all players but offers plenty of places to hide. Two great examples are a large backyard with a lot of trees and shrubbery, or inside designated rooms of a house (i.e., the basement and the den only). This game requires at least two players but can also be more fun with a big group.

 

Rules

Gather the group together and choose one person to be "it." This person is the seeker and must look for everyone else. The rest of the group must hide in the designated area. First, decide and agree upon a spot to be home base. The person who is "it" stands on the home base, covers his eyes and counts to a previously agreed upon number. Usually about 30 seconds will give hiders opportunity to choose a spot and stow away. When through counting, the "it" person says loudly, "Ready or not, here I come!" and runs to find the other players. The hiders must remain very quiet, and the last person to remain hiding without being found is the winner, and chooses the next person to be "it."

 

On a driveway or concrete playground area, mark out a 8-by-8-foot square with chalk. Divide this large square into four even squares by drawing a horizontal line across the middle and an intersecting vertical line down the middle. Position one child in each square. Play begins with one child bouncing the ball to the child in any other square of choice. The receiving child will deflect the ball to another square. If a child stops the movement of the game by holding the ball or missing the ball, or hits the ball out of the chalked lines, he is out of the game and the next player waiting on the sidelines will take his place.

The “little bull up” is a game in which there are two people that have to catch all the people, and the only way they cannot catch you is getting on a high place, like a curb, for example. You can only get to a high place if there´s someone chasing you. When anyone is chasing you, you have to go down and continue playing.

El “torito en alto” es un juego en el que hay dos “toritos” que tienen que pillar a todo el mundo, y la única manera de que no te puedan pillar es subiéndose a un sitio alto, como un bordillo, por ejemplo. Solo se puede subir a un sitio alto si te están persiguiendo, y cuando dejen de perseguirte, tienes que bajar y continuar jugando.

El funcionamiento de este juego es muy sencillo, dos personas se sitúan en los extremos de la cuerda y la hacen girar de forma circular, mientras tanto, otra persona se sitúa en el centro de la cuerda y saltan al compás del giro de la cuerda. Dependiendo de la longitud de la cuerda pueden saltar una o más personas.

Otra forma de jugar es que las dos personas de los extremos hagan girar la cuerda antes de que una o más personas estén en el centro y tengan que saltar dentro del movimiento circular de la cuerda y acompasarse a este.

     The  square is drawn on the ground.A couple of squares can be drawn on the ground according to player numbers. Midwife stands in the middle of squares.Other players stands on the corners. Players try to change their places with each other avoiding from caught by the midwife when the whistles . If the midwife catches one player ,that player  looses his/her spot/corner and becomes the midwife. If player doesn’t change his/her place when whistles , he/she is considered  cheating  and he/she becomes  midwife then.So every player must move when whistles.

🇬🇧: Three-legged race

They become pairs; If possible, they should be the same size and height. Once the pairs are made, they are tied, at the ankle, with a string, handkerchief or piece of cloth. The right leg of one player with the left of the other.

Once everyone is tied up, a start line and a finish line (finish line) are drawn and the race is done. The team that reaches the finish line first wins. You can do several teams and races, if you do not want to leave the result in a simple race.

🇪🇸: Carrera de las tres piernas

Se hacen parejas; a ser posible, que sean del mismo tamaño y estatura. Una vez hechas las parejas se atan, a la altura del tobillo, con un cordel, pañuelo o trozo de tela. La pierna derecha de un jugador con la izquierda del otro.

Una vez que todos están atados, se traza una línea de salida y otra de llegada (meta) y se hace la carrera. Gana la pareja que llega antes a la meta. Se pueden hacer varios equipos y carreras, sino se quiere dejar el resultado en una carrera simple

It is played at least by three players. To be played a ball is needed. The children chose numbers, and one picks without watching how will be the “sucker”. The sucker’s purpose is to catch the ball. All the other players stand around the sucker, and they throw the ball to the others, so the sucker won’t catch it shouting SUCKER. If the sucker catches the ball then the child that through the ball becomes the sucker and the game continuous.

Παίζεται από τουλάχιστον τρία παιδιά. Για το παιχνίδι χρειάζεται μια μπάλα. Με το α μπε μπα μπλο του και σε μπλο μπι μπλο αποφασίζεται ποιό παιδί γίνεται το «κορόιδο». Το παιδί που κάνει το  «κορόιδο» πρέπει να πάρει την μπάλα. Τα υπόλοιπα παιδιά παίρνουν θέσεις τριγύρω του και όποιο παιδί κρατά την μπάλα την πετά σε άλλο μόλις πλησιάσει κοντά τους, λέγοντας δυνατά «κορόιδο». Αν το παιδί πιάσει την μπάλα που πέταξε ένα από τα άλλα παιδιά, παίρνει τη θέση αυτού που την πέταξε, και πλέον αυτό γίνεται το «κορόιδο» για τη συνέχεια του παιχνιδιού.
