What I learned in Stats & Probability, PR1, and PR2

First, in Statistics and Probability, I learned:

• Terminologies like ¹Population, ²Sample, ³Sampling, ⁴Random Sampling, ⁵Scores, ⁶Lower/Upper Boundary, and others for solving and alike.

• Signs to use for terms like ¹frequency, ²classwork, ³number of samples,

• How to construct a table showing the probability distribution of the scores

• How to get the MEAN of a random variable

• Discrete and Continuous Variable and how to determine it

• Possible outcome of tossed coins

• Finding the Sample Mean, Variance, Standard Deviation using the frequency distribution table or GROUPED DATA.

These are some of the things I remember I learned during the 2nd Semester of my 11th grade with the help of Sir Jayrom Imbuido.

While at the same time with Mme. Mikee Salazar in Practical Research 1, I learned many things, as we focused on doing qualitative research. On our 10th Grade, Mme. Mikee taught us how to create a research paper in a basic format, but I can say that it helped me to easily cope and have a background about PR1. Last sy, I learned about the upgraded version of our Research before, where in every chapter, there's an additional part—it was introduced to us in a detailed lesson—every questions we ask was answered patiently until we/I understand it, from creating conceptual framework, how to gather data, the detailed format, how to find RRL/S, to guiding us with our paper.

Through this, I somehow master how to create a qualitative research, a title and how to defend it, and have a lot of background information about it to use for my future researches. Not only creating a paper, but to also defend it—with credibility and confidence.

Lastly, in our Practical Research 2 this sy, I can say that I also learned many new things, considering that we jumped from qualitative to quantitative research. In this subject, I learned how to expand the range of our study to a larger scale/locale, how to easily find RRL and RRS, and how to think critically about the focus of our study. With over 30 proposed titles, 1 title (study) gave me the confident to gain more knowledge, to contribute to the present body of knowledge. In our chapters 1-3, we did it with confidence—we have enough knowledge about it by taking notes of her advices—Mme. Mikee taught, not just me but everyone, how to defend our study with full understanding, decent structure, and function.

I can't fully remember all the details about the things I learned in these subjects, but I'm sure that I got a big chunk of learnings in it.

In Statistics and Probability, I learned how to analyze data and numbers in different situations. I understood how to use percentages, medians, means, weighted means, and frequencies, as well as the different terms used in statistics and probability. These skills helped me better understand how data can be interpreted and applied in real-life situations.

In Practical Research I, I learned more about the world of research. We were taught how to formulate a research title, understand its importance, and recognize why conducting a study matters—not just to pass, but to contribute a new body of knowledge. I also learned how research can provide significant benefits to its stakeholders.

We discussed what research is, the difference between qualitative and quantitative research, and the different types of qualitative research. I became familiar with the parts of a research paper and their significance, as well as the importance of ethics in conducting studies. We explored Chapter 1 (Introduction), which includes the background of the study, conceptual framework using the IPO model, statement of the problem/objectives, significance of the study, scope and delimitation, and the definition of terms (both operational and conceptual).

For Chapter 2, we learned how to write the Review of Related Literature and Studies (RRLS), and for Chapter 3, we studied Methodology—including research designs, instruments used in qualitative research such as interviews, group discussions, questionnaires, observations, and ethnography. We also discussed sampling methods, both probability and non-probability, such as snowball and purposive sampling. Other topics included data-gathering procedures, ethical considerations, and writing citations using APA 7th edition, MLA, and Chicago style. Lastly, we worked on writing a research proposal, applying what I learned back in Grade 10 with MME, under Mikee’s guidance.

In Practical Research II, I learned more about quantitative research—its types, including post ex facto, correlational, experimental, and survey research. We discussed sampling methods, ethics, characteristics of good RRLS, conceptual and theoretical frameworks, and the difference between independent and dependent variables. I also learned various ways to present data such as bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, and tables. Although we have not yet covered the full application of statistical analysis, I have already gained many important insights that I can apply in creating research.

I hope these lessons continue to help us understand what we still need to learn, so that we can complete our study successfully. More than just aiming to pass, I want our research to be meaningful—to address issues and contribute knowledge that can benefit our institution, future researchers, and stakeholders in general.

Statistics and Probability, Practical Research 1, Key Tabulation And Analysis I have learned a lot. In Statistics I learned how to interact with data, finding the mean and relaying patterns off of numbers. It taught me how mathematic is connected to the real world. In my first practical research, I was taught to get data through interviews/ and observations.I learned about the ethics of asking questions. In Practical Research 2, it got more technical. I did surveys and then analyzed the results and learned how to make conclusions from data. It was these subjects that gave me the thinking I need to make its and problem-solving, smart decisions that will be helpful in future which are useful no doubt.

During our lessons in Statistics and Probability, I learned that math is not just about solving equations but also about understanding the world through numbers. I discovered how to collect data, organize it, and use it to find answers to questions. I learned about mean, median, mode, and how to read graphs and tables. I also realized that probability helps us think about chances and possibilities in real-life situations, like predicting outcomes or making choices. It made me more careful and logical when thinking about situations that involve risks or decisions.

In Practical Research 1, I learned the basic steps in doing research. I learned how to choose a good topic, make research questions, and write a clear statement of the problem. I also understood how to review related studies and create a research plan. It taught me how important it is to be organized and to gather reliable information. I realized that research takes time, effort, and teamwork.

In Practical Research 2, I learned how to apply everything I learned in PR1. I experienced how to collect data, analyze it, and interpret the results. I also learned how to make conclusions and recommendations based on what we found. It was challenging, but it helped me become more patient and hardworking. I saw how research can be used to solve real problems and help others.

Overall, these subjects taught me valuable lessons that go beyond school. They helped me improve my thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Most of all, I learned that numbers and research are not just for grades they can actually help us understand and improve the world around us.
