For thousands of years, planets were just bright lights in the sky, one-dimensional points that wandered among the fixed stars. Earth is known by many as the main place of life, and everything is around us, even though it is not.

The main and deepest layer of earth is the core, which actually has two layers, the inner core and the outer core. The inner core is the hottest part of earth and made up of heavy elements such as iron and nickle, and the outer core is made up of liquid iron and nickle, resulting in lighter elements to rise to the surface. Next is the mantle, which is very thick hot plastic. Lastly is the crust, which covers the earth.

The Atmosphere is resulting from the core being so hot and containing heavy elements, which push elements like oxygen and nitrogen and CO2 to the surface. The atmosphere is mostly nitrogen, and is getting warmer due to human influence.

The outer core of the earth is liquid metal, which conducts electricity. The liquid convects, and the motion generates magnetic fields, similar to the way plasma generates in the Sun. The earths rotation helps organize this motion into huge cylindrical rolls that align with earths axis. The overall effect generates a magnetic field similar to a bar magnet, with a magnetic north pole and south pole, which lie close to the physical spin axis poles of earth.
