Progress and innovation in a country is somewhat based on the surrounding environment, such as Mesopotamia, how they always had floods and changing weather, due to that they had a drive to innovate new techniques such as they buillt canals and channels, and so on. But, it is also important to note sometimes while a country can have a resource-rich environment, they might not have much success due to things like exploitation.

In Unit 1, we saw how power links to weaponry and the military. Money and resources are crucial, especially in case of serious conflict. Power also links to scientific and technical innovation, as new technology and weapons can make a country feared.

In Unit 2, power could be related to how quickly and effectively a country can extract resources. However, as we saw, a country's resources do not directly link to power and wealth. Instead, it is a lot about the politics and distribution of power within a country.

Additionally, companies can use their fame and power in order to take advantage of less developed countries to get cheap reasources.

In Unit 1, mainly weapons & military power (and money) led to power, while in Unit 2, it was about having a resource-rich environment/ or being able to get to a country with those resources quickly and developing extracting operations. Many MEDCs found themselves with lots of power due to finding countries that are resource-rich and exploiting them (usually LEDCs). Some countries may have had a resource-rich environment but got exploited or had poor resource management, so environment/resources doesn't always lead to wealth. Mainly, in Unit 2, it was about either having a resource-rich environment or finding one, and having good resource management.

In Unit 1, we focused on separate countries a lot and how they interacted with each other, especially how that caused conflict. Ideological, economic, and cultural disputes are very common between nations. Communication between countries is crucial when it comes to international relationships, and those things, along with other factors such as independence and power, could be the cause and resolution of conflict.

In Unit 2, we saw how global interactions are crucial in things such as trade and strategic interests.
