The first video is of a song originally sang by the Weekend, and I honestly never put much attention the song until I strolled across Youtube to find this cover. It amazes me that It sounds nothing like the original version. This you-tuber, Alex Aiono, rebranded this song and made it his own. As I mentioned in my response, I prefer acoustic versions, rather than original versions. I feel as if there is some added magic when you preform a song with only a guitar/piano and without auto tune. I feel like it resonates better with the audience and actually makes them feel something within. The second video is of my prepubescent self preforming at my very first talent show. As I said in my response, I tend to like sad sangs over happy songs, and that's mostly because I like to feel emotions when I listen to a song, and that's what these types of songs do, they provoke an emotion.

When It comes to music, I pretty much am my own being. My journey probably started off, much like every other millennial, with high school musical. It created this image of life in my head, that since then, I haven't been able to shake off. Though my high school experience paled in comparison to the film, I still managed to accomplish musical goals in my life that added to my musical identity. In high school, I jumped from different career choices all the time, but the only thing that stayed consistent was my passion for music. It all started my freshmen year, when I decided to sign up for the talent show. I never thought that I was good at singing, but I enjoyed the feeling of doing it either way. Getting a spot in the talent show was the validation I needed to go on with this amateur passion of mine. The experience was wonderful, and then I repeated it my sophomore year, but audition for the talent show again; However, this time, with an original song. There is something about presenting yourself to other people on a stage. It’s as if the audience doesn’t exist. I mean they are there, cheering you on, maybe even singing along, but you utterly alone in a bubble you have creating. It is a sensational feeling. As time went on, my friends noticed that everything that I listen to, or even wrote, was on the morbid side of things. I was never the first choice for aux because where i grew up their first choice of genre was rap and upbeat music, something I didn't really find pleasing to the ears. I prefer slow songs over upbeat ones. I prefer acoustic versions of the regular one. I slowly created my own playlist and sense of music as I matured. The reason for this is because I believe pain and sadness resonate better in lyrics, and it’s really there to tell a story.

This is a picture of a piano. After watching the High School Musical trilogy, I was inspired to pursue this unrealistic, not to mention difficult dream of becoming a musician. My parents enrolled me in piano classes and there the snowball began to roll down the moutain, allowing my to open my mind t later joing the band in school. This led me to preform in two talent shows, and at church. The preforming gave me the courage to audition for the school play. And all of the encouragement from my peers allowed me to go audition for American Idol in which I didn't make it to the teleision but I made it pretty far in first auditioning stages. The Piano made me who I am today.

Shawn Mendes

This is a GIF photo of Shawn Mendes, who, like the piano, inspired me to pursue this dream. He started off in vine where I first discovered him, but it wasn't until he posted a cover of Say Something on Youtube on 2014 when I became obsessed with his being. Like any other celeb, I first run a quick google search, and the first thing that I find out is that we were born on the same date. I thought that was amazing because, at the time, my whole life I had never found my "celeb birthday twin" until that moment. However, the way he impacted my musical identity was by showing me the art of Covers. To this day, my top Youtube searches are proabably covers of songs, and thanks to Shawn, I discovered something that I absolutely love.
