1. Surveyors Compass - I would choose this item, so we know what direction we need to be going in out exploration and also if we get lost out in the woods.

2. 150 yards of cloth to be oiled and sewn into tents and sheets - I would choose this item, so we can build tents and sheets. We would build these things, so we can stay warm and have somewhere to sleep.

3. 4,600 sewing needles - I would choose this item because if we were to run into Indians, we would give them this gift, so they can make the clothes that they need to keep themselves warm.

4. Shoes - I would choose this item because they would protect our feet from getting damaged.

5. 15 prototype Model 1803 muzzle-loading .54 caliber rifles - I would choose this item because if we were to run into any animals or bad Indian Tribes, we would have protection.

Corps of Discovery

1. I would choose William Clark to be the first person to go on my trip to the West. William Clark is a strong person. I chose him because he would help me get to where I needed to go. He will also help me defeat any enemies that we come across.

2. I would choose Sacagawea as my second person. I would choose her as my second person because she can speak to tribes that speak different languages. She would help us get the tools that we need to survive. She would help us make alliences with other tribes that we came across.

Plant and Animal Life

1. What I think the members of the corps thought about the Clarkia Pulchella is that it was a plant that would help make crops. It has purple and white leaves and a green stem. The Clarkia Pulchella might have been strange to them because they might not have ever seen a plant like that before and they didn't know why it was the colors that it was. How this plant would help benefit the lives of the American people is that they used the Clarkia Pulchella to make food and it was part of the Indian diet.

2. What I think the members of the corps thought about the Black Tail Deer is that they thought it was an animal that was different from any other animal that they have seen. It had sharp antlers. It had a black tail with a brown fur coat. The black tail might have been strange to them because they didn't know why it was black, but not another. How this animal would benefit the lives of the American people is that they ate the meat from the deer. They used it's fur coat to make jackets, shoes, etc. They would use the fur coats to make sure that they kept themselves warm during cold days and cold winter months.

The Mandan Indians lived at the center of trade along the Upper Missouri River. The Mandan Indians were focused on political, economical, and ceremonial activity. The Mandan Indians grew many kinds of crops. Those crops included corn, beans, squash, and tobacco. The Mandan Indians helped Lewis and Clark with the exploration because when the Mandans met Lewis and Clark, they accepted their plans. The Mandan Indians let Lewis and Clark reside nearby for the winter months. The Mandan Indians supplied the Americans with food throughout the winter. The Mandan Indians helped Lewis and Clark in part of their exploration.
