Karaoke: the best kind

I am not the traditional karaoke participant. I get the worst stage fright and completely freeze, so I tend to be an observer in most cases except, in the car. There is very rarely a moment in my travels that I am not belting a rendition of any song from Adele, Whitney Houston, and of course Celine Dion. There is also a really good chance you will find me rapping my heart out, or jamming to an upbeat country song. I am not talking about just tapping the steering wheel and humming along. I am in full performance mode with faces and hand gestures included. For what ever reason a room full of people is terrifying, but making a complete fool of myself at a stop light is completely acceptable.

Which leads me to the video I have included below. Adele is my go to car karaoke artist, mostly because of her big notes and no matter how quiet the radio is, people always only here her. The first time I ever saw this video I laughed the entire time, to the point I had to watch it again. Not only do I perform my heart out in the car, it is usually in the company of my wife, who thinks I am an absolute lunatic, but that certainly doesn't stop me. Almost always, a fair amount of laughter is experienced during and after each of my stirring performances.

The girl who has never been to a concert.

I have never been to a concert, classical or any other genre for that matter. I have had the pleasure of attending musical theater, but I am told it just isn't the same. I certainly believe it. I have also had the pleasure of experiencing live music in a small bar or in an restaurant. I have so far had to live vicariously through my friends and family in the descriptions of their experiences and of course their self recorded videos. As a kid, I had two working parents, and we never had the money to send me to a concert of any kind, not to mention an overprotective father. Now as an adult I have all the opportunity in the world, and am unfortunately crippled by PTSD. I will say though, that it is certainly on my bucket list.
