George and Lennie had been kicked out of the last town because they had gotten into trouble. They both wanted to get their own land to farm on, so George was going to get a job so they can buy their land. They would have rabbits, a nice house, lavender for the rabbits, and more. George and Lennie had to walk to the Ranch. There George would get his job. The workers didn't know that George just wanted to get $50 and then leave. George and Lennie got their cabin and met some new people. George, Lennie, and Candy started talking about George's idea about the land. Candy likes this idea and wants in. George thinks Candy would be good to let in and he does let Candy in. George also promised Lennie a puppy, which Slim has a couple. Slim allows Lennie have a puppy. Lennie, George, Slim, Whit, and Candy were all talking the next day. Out of no where, Curley blasts through the door and asks where his wife is. No one knew where she was and Lennie had laughed at something else. Curley got mad and thought Lennie laughed at him. Curley wanted to pick a fight with Lennie, he started beating Lennie up. George yelled to tell Lennie to get Curley and Lennie did. Lennie had broken Curley's hand. A couple of days later, Lennie was playing with his puppy alone and had accidentally broken it's neck. Lennie was sad and Curley's wife came over. She was lonely and wanted Lennie's attention. They talked and she told Lennie to feel her hair. Lennie was messing up her hair and she started to freak out. Lennie started strangling her because he didn't know what to do. Lennie accidentally broke her neck. He went back to the pond. George and the town people found Curley's wife and knew Lennie did it. George got Carlson's gun and went to the pond. George and Lennie started talking and George knew what he had to do. George went behind Lennie and shot him in the back of his head.

1. Lennie had committed a crime by killing Curley's wife, but didn't mean to do it. Lennie decides then to run away to the brush where George told him to go and wait for him if he got into trouble. George, Curley, and the guys came and saw what had happened to Curley's wife. Curley was mad and gathered up his men and set out to kill Lennie. George knew Lennie did it and knew exactly where he would go. George met with Lennie and they talked for a while. While they were talking, George went behind Lennie and shot him in the back of his head.
2. Back in Green, Lennie had grabbed a hold of a woman's dress. Lennie held onto it because he wanted to pet something soft. The woman then began to yell and scream, which led to men going after Lennie. George and Lennie had to leave the town and hide in a river.

The Ranch- This is where mostly everything takes place. This is the place where people live, work, and have fun at. This includes the barn and cabins.
The Pond- This is where Lennie and George go the first night they don't have a place to go. This is also where Lennie is shot.
Mood: The ranch gives the characters a home-y feel. There is a lot of activity going around so characters can be entertained or find something to do.

I was really shocked about the ending. I thought George wouldn't shoot Lennie because George has taken care of him throughout his life and Lennie is his best friend. Plus George had talked about putting Lennie in jail or someplace else so Curley couldn't hurt him. It made me a little bit sad, but I really did enjoy this story.
