         <title>The term &quot;netiquette&quot; is rooted in the concept of being respectful and mindful as we navigate the online world. Netiquette focuses not only on the &quot;do&#39;s&quot; and &quot;don&#39;ts&quot; of cyberspace, but encourages technology users to use their power for learning, and enhancement to everyone around them. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Checking before clicking<br>      - Make sure that the content you are posting is exactly what you want to put out into the world. A small mistake can go a long way!<br><br>2. Spam-free<br> - Sending the same messages multiple times can be inconvenient, disruptive, and offsetting to those receiving them.<br><br>3.  Respect for privacy <br> -Do not share or distribute personal information, photos, and other content unless you are ranted permission by the owner. This is not only bad netiquette, but can also be illegal and lined to cyber-bullying. <br><br>4. Use emotions<br>     - Often times online messages can be conveyed in different ways than we intend them to be, and can create conflict. Eliminate this by using emoji's, and more descriptive writing and punctuation!<br><br>5. Be open to expression<br>     -The online world is a place where everyone should feel safe and welcome to have discussions. If you encounter a user with a different view on something than you do, do not shut them down. Instead, engage in a polite and insightful conversation where you are open to learning things from one another. This will diminish the risk of conflict.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>CIPA is the Children&#39;s Internet Protection Act. Enacted by Congress in 2000 and signed into law in 2001 by President George W. Bush, the goal is to protect minors from harmful, inappropriate, or obscene digital content. If school&#39;s and libraries wish to continue receiving discounts offered by the E-rate program, they must comply with the most up-to-date rules, which were most recently updated in 2011.  CIPA requires regulations of accessible content on the network of schools and libraries, and gives authorization to the directors of these institution to ensure standards are met. Policy&#39;s being implemented include safety measures regarding online chat rooms being monitored, or not allowed, restriction to inappropriate content dependent upon age (including e-mail accounts), and the prohibition of disclosing or accessing of personal information.</title>

         <title>Digital Law is the legal world surrounding cyberspace. It is comprised of the laws, regulations, and restrictions of the technology world. Unfortunately, many students do not realize that they are breaking digital laws, and the consequences can be serious for all involved. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For the first lesson plan addressing netiquette, I would first introduce and brainstorm the idea of netiquette with my class. After, I would have my students read a book of their choice (with prior approval), and develop a brief book report after they have completed the reading. However, I would assist my students turn their book report into a "mini blog" on a classroom, or other scholarly website, possibly such as Padlet. The students will comment on each other's posts, and provide insightful feedback to each other, as well as to me, all while adhering to proper and active netiquette. A rubric would be developed to properly assess my students and highlight strengths, and areas for redirection. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For the second lesson plan addressing digital law, I decided that I will have my students work together to make a classroom banner on being a good digital citizen. To start, I would put on a video about digital law and proper digital citizenship. After, I would divide the class into two groups. One group would be responsible for listing qualities that are of a good digital citizen. The other half would list qualities of a bad digital citizen. We would discuss both groups work as a class, and would label a poster accordingly. The poster would either be displayed over the computer section of the classroom or in a popular classroom location as a daily reminder. A sample of a poster that would be ideal can be found below. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I strongly believe that teaching Netiquette is crucial to young students. Technology is only going to become a larger part of our lives in the future, and just as we would not let our students use poor grammar and display rude social behaviors, we need to be correcting and enhancing their learning on the internet as well.  While I have not heard of the technical term "Netiquette" prior, I have been aware of the content, and consequences poor execution of it can have. I feel that the topic is worthy of much more attention and detail than it receives in classrooms today. By integrating Netiquette into curriculum from the start, students will grow with the times of technology and develop their skills properly. <br><br></div>]]></description>

As a teacher, it is imperative that precautions and safety measures are being implemented to keep our students secure. There are many legal issues that I believe will only enhance as our students grow, and keeping them knowledgeable and educated is the best way to prevent problematic consequences in their future.</div>]]></description>
