Growing up I wanted to be a Physical Therapist and came to find out I can’t handle being around cadavers without being sick to my stomach and passing out haha. I then had to make a decision to change my career path and teaching was always something I pictured myself doing and enjoying. I am very passionate and interested in health and fitness so I decided to go into Physical Education. During student teaching and after graduating I was a personal trainer and became very successful and fulfilled doing that for 8 years and became a gym manager as well. I really began thinking about teaching again and decided I wanted to get back to my original goal and focus on the health and fitness of kids.
I finally got back to my goal and am teaching K-5 at West Elementary School in the Jefferson City School District.

Something interesting about me is that I have great balance skills. I can balance many different things on my chin. I started doing it when I was on the golf team in high school and got really good at balancing golf clubs on my chin and toe. Then through time a kept trying new things like brooms, guitars, bar stools, shark vacuum, and things of that nature. Has to be a long somewhat light item that can fit on my chin. I always do this trick for my students at the end of our hockey unit...I did it once at the beginning and then I had lots of new amateur balance artists in class during the whole unit.

How I use technology personally and professionally...

Technology is one of the great continuing innovations we have gotten to experience and I use quite a bit. My iPhone is always a number one necessity and my main source of technology and communication. Whether using email, Amazon, Pandora, or Candy Crush :), it has become a constant accessory. I also use my laptop often now that I am in my Masters program. Honestly, just the other day though I mentioned to co-workers that I miss the 90's and the time before all the technology and would go back to that in an instant. Although I do like the safety aspect of a cell phone but would be fine to go back to the Zak Morris days where all it did was call.
