Based on the framework in the readings, Vizualise Palestine depicts Israeli apartheid through Military law, which reflects an "institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime". The image depicts the increased attacks faced by the Palestinians by the Israelis, which include taking away their livestock, property, and lives.
In addition, just like the image, the texts contribute to the case. The words "settlers attacked" and "occupied West Bank" further reflect Israeli apartheid.

Even the Bus system is discriminatory that exists to show who is eligible of basic human rights.

This poster shows how the Palestinians in Gaza do not have access to clean fresh water. The text in the image apply that "97% of Gaza's water is contaminated" which means almost all water in Gaza is undrinkable, due to the military occupation over Gaza and Israel's blockage. We can relate this to (number 3) the military law governing Palestinians in Gaza. The Israelis do have access to fresh water, as if they are the superior race, this is a domination and oppression of one race over another which is Palestinians. The bottle of water portrayed in the image does not visualize apartheid directly, no one in the world wants to drink "Undrinkable" water, knowing the the Palestinians only have access to this water is alone a form of apartheid and deprivation of basic human rights .

The way in which I see apartheid being implemented is by Palestinian journalists being killed while reporting by the Israeli Defense Forces (military). The definition of apartheid is being applied here perfectly by exemplified expressions of it, so persecution and murder of civilians by the occupation on the basis of their jobs and ethnicity (the journalists being Palestinian).

In this case, apartheid was shown through the delay of Israeli forces in issuing exit permission for cancer patients to be able to move to specialised hospitals for medication and treatment until 46 of those patients died from waiting. This form of apartheid lies under the third domain which refers to refugees and Palestinians living in Gaza and the West Bank under the oppressive occupational forces and the control of the military law.

The visual shows the difference between a jew and a Palestinian. In the visual Noa, the jew is labeled a "Citizen" while Zeid, the Palestinian is labeled as "Resident". In addition, Israeli apartheid is tackled in the visual with the discrimination and inequality as well as pass laws. Although Palestinians here are portrayed as foreigners, it might be unclear that Palestinians are being discriminated against on their own land.

The poster by Visualising Palestine was created in collaboration with Human Rights Watch. The poster describes the different statuses of a Jewish citizen of Israel and a Palestinian resident both born in East Jerusalem. Israel is committing apartheid in East Jerusalem. The post showcases that a Jewish citizen of Israel enjoys a secure legal status, full freedom of movement to travel abroad and come back and to move anywhere they please in the West Bank and can easily move or build a new home in the city. East Jerusalem according to international law is the capital of the "Palestinian territories". So an Israel jew living in east Jerusalem with a blessing from Israel and not the Palestinian authorities is already a violation of International law. A Palestinian in East Jerusalem is a citizen of Israel but rather a resident and their legal status is not secure. They follow the permanent residency law. A Palestinian resident's legal status could be provoked at any moment by Israel, they cannot travel abroad for a long time and come back. Palestinians also cannot build a new home in Jerusalem as Israel does not issue new licenses and Palestinians are currently overcrowded in homes does to that. Israel decides the status of people in East Jerusalem according to race, and this is Apartheid.

Based on the third apartheid fragments Palestinians domain, which is "Military law governing Palestinians, including those in refugee camps, living since 1967 under conditions of belligerent occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip", this Palestinian poster portrays Israeli Apartheid. To elaborate, this visual highlights how the Palestinian population is deprived of drinkable water as 97% of Gaza's water is contaminated due to Israel's blockade and military occupation. It is interesting to notice, that this poster showcases an indirect message, as it is talking about a non-directly related issue to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, this water issue highlights how the great majority of Palestinians are deprived of clean water, which emphasizes one of the impactful consequences of Israel's involvement, hence, underlining Israeli Apartheid on Palestine.

It separates individuals of different race and creates a separation and inequality between different them within one space. In this image we can see apartheid from the wording and visuals analyzed it is told that Israeli military and forces are trying to get rid of all the Palestinians refuges and and displace them from Sheikh Jarrah and the image shows that. This visual represents Israeli apartheid since the Israeli settlers severely discriminate against Palestinians by settling their illegal settlements, which are color-coded in red and located in Sheikh Jarrah. Apartheid becomes evident as Israelis are not held accountable or prosecuted for these deaths. This situation highlights a notable imbalance, where the state of Israel appears to favor Jewish citizens over Palestinians. This unequal treatment raises important questions about justice and fairness in the region.

This visually striking depiction in the Israeli Apartheid Week 2020 poster serves as a compelling entry point for analyzing Israeli apartheid in Visualizing Palestine posters. The juxtaposition of serene birds within the Israeli context against the haunting imagery of air attacks and destroyed buildings in the Palestinian narrative encapsulates the profound disparities and lived realities. The intentional visual narrative underscores the unequal impact of geopolitical conflicts on infrastructure and daily life, urging viewers to confront the human toll of Israeli apartheid. Through symbols of life and destruction intricately intertwined, this poster powerfully communicates a call to action, advocating for awareness, empathy, and collective efforts to address the systemic inequalities ingrained in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The deliberate choice of visual elements prompts viewers to delve into the complexities of the issue and consider the urgent need for a just and equitable resolution.

The Ongoing Nakba: Palestinian Refugees' Right to Return

This poster highlights the enduring struggle of Palestinian refugees, displaced from their ancestral villages during the Nakba of 1948 and still denied the right to return home. Despite international recognition of their right of return, Palestinian refugees, especially those in Gaza, face ongoing obstacles and discrimination, perpetuating their displacement.

In Gaza, eight refugee camps house Palestinian refugees who continue to be denied the right to return to their original villages. The ESCWA report underscores discriminatory policies preventing their return, contrasting with incentives for Jewish immigration to Palestine. This policy reflects Israel's fear of a "geographic threat" posed by Palestinian refugees. showing the imbalance and the racist actions taken by Israeli state based on religion basis.

Despite UN resolutions affirming their right of return, Palestinian refugees remain displaced, enduring overcrowded camps and limited resources. Gaza residents face compounded hardship due to a blockade and military attacks, perpetuating their suffering.

And over the decades The Nakba, the genocide and the ethnic cleansing are still ongoing. Where people right now in Gaza are not allowed return to their homes even in their Refugees camp, living their second Nakba.

When are these people going to be allowed to return their homes? Not only the ones in the Gaza refugee camps, but the ones in the occupied Palestine.

Addressing the ongoing injustice requires international accountability and action. Palestinians deserve the right to return to their homes, a fundamental principle of international law. Denial of this right perpetuates their suffering and must end. It's time to honor the right of return and ensure justice and dignity for all Palestinians.

This poster illustrates the starvation that GAZA’s people are facing since Oct 7 after the Israeli Siege. For historical context, Israeli imposed closure on the movement of goods and people to and from Gaza dates to 1991, with restrictions becoming more severe in 1993 and then again after 2000. In 1994, Israel built the Gaza–Israel barrier as a security measure. And as west bank and Gaza supposed to be under the total Palestinian control, Israel still can siege them especially in the ongoing war on GAZA, where food, water, gas and medications are prohibited from entering. And this case specifically shows the unbalance and unfairness of putting a group of people from different religion under blockade and the Non-implementation of the International Laws.

Where Israel, encouraged by the international community’s disregard for its continual violations of international law, has succeeded over the past decades in imposing and maintaining an apartheid regime that works on two levels. First, the political and geographic fragmentation of the Palestinian people which enfeebles their capacity for resistance and makes it almost impossible for them to change the reality on the ground. Secondly, the oppression of all Palestinians through an array of laws, policies and practices that ensure domination of them by a racial group and serve to maintain the regime.

Knowing that the apartheid and associated practices are prohibited under international humanitarian law. Customary international humanitarian law provides that “adverse distinction in the application of international humanitarian law based on race, color, sex, language, religion or belief, political or other opinion, national or social origin, wealth, birth or other status, or on any other similar criteria is prohibited.” This provision is also mirrored in treaty law, particularly Article 27 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, according to which all protected persons should be treated without prejudice and “without any adverse distinction based, in particular, on race, religion or political opinion".

                                                                                                                                                            #break-the siege

This visual from Visualizing Palestine speaks to article II (a) of the apartheid convention regarding the inhuman act of denying a member(s) of a racial group(s) the right to life and liberty. This visual speaks of this inhuman act perpetrated by the IOF on Palestinian children. Specifically, it addresses the acts of inflicting serious mental and bodily harm on Palestinian children, and their arbitrary and illegal arrest.

Both the Russell Tribunal on Palestine report (2011) and the UN ESCWA report (2017) find evidence of these violations on Palestinians. Palestinians of all ages are arbitrarily detained and subjected to all different kinds of physical and psychological ill-treatment and torture. This ‘arbitrary detainment’ is in essence the kidnapping and imprisonment of Palestinians without any charge or trial. According to Amnesty International, from October 7 to November 8 alone, the number of Palestinians subjected to this kind of violation increased from 1319 to 2,070 (Amnesty, 2023). Palestinians, whether citizens of Israel or not, are generally classified as ‘security prisoners’ and subjected to specific interrogation techniques often amounting to ill-treatment and torture (Russell Tribunal on Palestine, 2011). This is a discriminatory act, such that this classification is in stark contrast with the other group, Jewish-Israelis, who are not categorized as such and do not undergo the same treatment. In fact, Jewish-Israelis have a different court and legal system than Palestinians. The trials of Palestinians are considered ‘unfair trials’ by international standards, and the penalties they are subjected to are severely disproportionate to those of Israeli-Jews, and much harsher.

The illegal harm inflicted on illegally detained Palestinians, whether children or adults, includes but is not limited to severe beatings and torture, inhuman and humiliating treatment, sexual harassment, psychological abuse, and extrajudicial killings. Those who are later released are often released without any charges. This visual specifically highlights the torture of children, stating that 86% of Palestinian children are beaten in military detention. The testimony of Yousef highlights the extreme physical and psychological the guards inflict on these children.

This poster illustrates the profound challenges faced by Gazan children, aged 14 and under, who have spent their entire lives navigating the harsh reality of the Israeli blockade and enduring the impact of four wars on their mental and physical health.
In line with the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid, the poster illustrates the deprivation of the right to life and liberty (Article II (a)), as many children in Gaza lose their right to education due to the double-shift system implemented by schools facing a shortage of classrooms. Regarding poverty, the poverty rate in Gaza is 64%, and food insecurity constitutes 69%, threatening the lives of many Gazan children.
According to Article II (c), the occupation deliberately inflicted physical and psychological harm on Gazan children through four wars witnessed by those aged 14 years or younger.
88% of Gazan children participating in one study had been exposed to personal trauma, with 54% meeting the criteria for a diagnosis of PTSD. Additionally, 35% of Palestinian children under the age of five are at risk of not reaching their developmental potential due to chronic trauma.
Furthermore, the poster highlights the persecution faced by organizations and individuals in the region (Article III), underscoring the collective predicament of a community strangled by protracted occupation and restricted access to basic resources. This includes the water crisis, where 97% of fresh water is contaminated. Lack of access to clean drinking water is the leading cause of illness and child mortality in Gaza.

The statistics shown in this visual reflect the procedures Israel adopts to implement its apartheid system. Demographic engineering is a method whereby as indicated in the visual Israel works on suppressing the growth of the Palestinian community to not exceed 40%. this could be by discriminating against Palestinians and thus pushing them to leave Jerusalem and as represented in the visual, by unregistering 10K+ newborns.

In brief, as mentioned in ESCWA report (2017) Palestinians residing in East Jerusalem encounter discrimination, confronting disparities in education, healthcare, job opportunities, and residency rights. They also confront the threat of home demolitions and forced evictions, all of which serve the purpose of preserving a Jewish majority in the region. Designated as permanent residents, they have limited legal avenues to challenge Israeli laws and face potential expulsion if they openly align politically with Palestinians. These legal limitations impede their ability to resist apartheid within the bounds of the law.

The picture depicts how journalists' voices that support Palestine are blocked by editors in the U.S. newsrooms. The editor, in a local news outlet, is tying the journalist's hands with his ink to prevent her from proceeding to the "inception" stage, before even reporting and reaching the publishing phase. Whereas, in Spencer's case, working with a different union, the one in a prestigious position appeared aware of the most urgent event at the moment, which was extensively uncovered, and was free-minded to decide what to cover currently and what not to. Freedom of opinion and wise interests.
