I feel connected to this place and I always feel in complete awe of how untouched and naturally beautiful it is. That may sound cringe but it really makes me appreciate Mother Nature a lot more than living in a town does.

The group of friends in this picture draw me closer to God every single day, no matter where we are or what we are doing. We could be sitting in our house, or camping in Roseisle, they will always point me to Him. So seeing His natural creation while spending time with them is an extremely 'spiritual' moment.

Although I’ve yet to try this particular class, it appealed to me as it combined my old love of a group class with being out in the fresh air. It also showed me people coming together and adapting to find a space for “normal” during a chaotic time. Growing up on a rural island in Shetland meant I had endless access to the beach. My granny and grandad would take me to the Brough beach almost everyday to explore and have fun. My granny would always tell me about the "healing and connection effect" of water, how the sea can heal the soul and attach part of your soul to the world. I always though this was nonsense until my grandad was no longer around. Visiting the beach makes me feel close to him, touching the same waters that we once touched together. I am the first in the family not to be born here. I cannot describe the feeling of calm and ease I experience every time I am on the island - life genuinely feels slower. I am more mindful here. It was the site of hundreds of Viking burials and I ponder the significance of this when I am there - why did they choose this place to leave this world and enter the next? The scenery looks unchanged from how it would have looked then, and the Neolithic past feels as close as modern day. Orkney was thought to be a central hub for modern culture and beliefs in Britain thousands of years ago, and the unexplained stone circles, carvings and advanced lifestyle of the Neolithic people feels very spiritual to me.
