I think this should be done in a way that can inspire others. Without presenting a bias or taking away from the architecture of campus. CSUCI is a diverse campus, so I think that by making the mural encompass more of its diversities would be more effective. I would like to see this done by including the representation of more majors and by adding to the diversity of the depicted individuals.
I also think that the portion with the dancer and person reading under a tree should be replaced with something that better honors the focuses of the mural project. Perhaps more depictions related to the pursuit of higher education?

I don't see the LGBTQ+ or differently abled communities reflected nor do I understand what some of the elements are meant to represent (i.e., the green person reading by the tree roots on the bottom right panel). Maybe I'm uninformed of the symbolism, but there's opportunity for the images included to be more diversely & specifically representative of the many intersectional identities of our student body and campus community AND to the pursuit of higher education/graduation as indicated in the mural purpose statement. Those are my general comments. And now two specific concerns: 
1. The image of the group of graduates in the lower left panel: the (female?) student in the front of the group depicted looks like their commencement gown has been opened to expose two green breasts. I don't know if the two green ovals are supposed to be a tree or lungs, but I can't unsee it as anything other than a student with breasts exposed.  Am I the only one?
2. It's very concerning that the image of the person raising the conch in the upper left panel is in the likeness of the person currently associated with/ compensated for offering Chumash blessings on campus. Whereas the rest of the painted images are nondescript/ unidentifiable, (excluding the profile of the Folkloric dancer which looks photoshopped in, it's so crisply different than the others), this one being so obviously in their likeness feels like the mural is honoring the person rather than the Chumash culture they represent and the indigenous peoples' land the institution occupies. And that feels...inappropriate? performative? underhanded? Icky.
