As for the second week of Usrah, we learned about the Pillars of Islam: Hadith Jibril. Here are the summary and points that we had learned regarding the topic:

Definition of Hadith Jibril:

Umar ibn al-Khattab recounts a conversation with the Prophet Muhammad, where a man appeared with white clothes and black hair. He asked about Islam, which he explained as a test of the existence of Allah and Muhammad as the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet explained that Islam involves prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage to the House. The man was surprised to hear the Prophet's truthfulness, and he asked about faith, excellence, and the final hour. The Prophet explained that the one asking does not know more than the one asking. The man asked about signs of the final hour, such as a slave-girl giving birth and barefoot, naked shepherds competing in tall building construction. The Prophet confirmed that the man was Gabriel, who came to teach the man his religion.

Significances of The Hadith:

The Hadith of Jibril (Gabriel) is a great Hadith in which Prophet SAW explained faith (Iman), Islam, and excellence (Ihsan). He also mentioned signs of the Hour and its indications

This Hadith provides comprehensive insights into the core aspects of faith (Iman), worship (Ibadah), and the unseen

Jibril as teaching for the religion

Jibril as a teacher because he asked about matters that the companions heard the answers to. So, the aspect of teaching was added to it because he came as a questioner to teach others, not to learn himself

He was knowledgeable in that regard, and that's why he would say 'You have spoken the truth' after the Prophet SAW clarified the matters for which he was responsible

5 Pillars of Islam:

Declaration of faith

Obligatory prayer

Compulsory giving

Fasting in the month of Ramadhan

Pilgrimage to Mecca

The Importance of the 5 Pillars of Islam:

To strengthen bond between us and Allah SWT

To strengthen bond between us and others

To refine souls and keep away from major sins

To make us the real servant of Allah SWT

Hadith Jibril and Adab of Seeking Knowledge:

A teacher should be treated in a polite manner, as Jibril sat down before the Prophet SAW in a polite way to learn from him

Knowledge must be referred to the knowledgeable person or scholars

Don't be afraid or shy or hesitate to ask questions

On the fourth week of Usrah, we continued learning about the Pillars of Iman, which is the fourth, fifth and sixth pillar. Here is what Sr. Hana explained to us regarding the Pillars of Iman:

4th Pillar of Iman: Belief in Rusul and Anbiya' (the Messengers and the Prophets)

Belief in Ulul'azm Anbiya' (Arch-Prophets) and all other prophets

Ulul'azm Anbiya' (Arch-Prophets) :

- Prophet Nuh AS: Preached Islam for 950 years but was rejected and mocked by most, including his own son and wife. He built the Ark and witnessed a great flood that destroyed the disbelievers

- Prophet Ibrahim AS: Opposed idol worship, was thrown into a fire by his people (which Allah saved him from), and faced the test of being asked to sacrifice his son, Ismail

- Prophet Musa AS: Confronted Firaun's tyranny, led the Israelites out of Egypt, and struggled with their constant complaints and lack of faith, despites miracles

- Prophet Isa AS: Rejected by many, accused of blasphemy, and plotted against religious authorities. He was saved by Allah SWT from crucifixion

- Prophet Muhammad SAW: Persecuted by his tribe, faced battles, betrayal, and the challenge of uniting Arabia. Endured hardships patiently and successfully established Islam

5th Pillar of Iman: Belief in Qiyamah (The Resurrection Day)

Other names of Qiyamah:

Yawm Al-Qiyaamah (The Day of Rising):

- People rise from their graves and great terrors will unfold.

Yawm Al-Hasrah (The Day of Regret):

- The negligent will regret their religious neglect.

Al-Qaari'ah (The Striking Calamity):

- Great terrors will strike the people on this day.

Yawm Al-Fasl (The Day of Judgement):

- Allah will judge between His servants.

Yawm Ad-Deen (The Day of Recompense):

- Allah will recompense everyone according to their deeds.

Al-Haaqqah (The Inevitable Reality):

- The truth will become clear with Paradise or Hellfire.

Yawm At-Talaaqi (The Day of Meeting):

- The first and the last of creation will meet with Allah SWT.

6th Pillar of Iman: Belief in Qada' and Qadr

How it strengthens by 'Amal (Righteous Actions):

Faith in Qada' and Qadr:

- Belief in divine predestination reminds believers that Allah is in control of everything, and nothing happens outside of His will.

Responsibility for Actions:

- While Allah decrees all things, humans have free will to choose their actions.
