Today was quite impressive and also intensive day for me. We did a lot and when the day ended, I felt a bit tired but totally satisfied. I learnt a lot new activities about listening and some useful websites to prepare extra tasks.
When we discussed challenges of listening, I realized that I share same problems with other teachers around different cities of Turkey. Active listening term was not new thing for me but I deeply learnt more about it. Text with lies, class mingle quiz, live listening were all fun, interesting, very proper activities which I can use all of them in my classes. Can’t wait for it!
Lastly, giving instructions is the most crucial part of teaching. I’m happy to practice it.
2. I sometimes prefer using coursebook listening tasks and materials because some of them are really useful and practical for use. On the other hand, some of them doesn’t take my students’ attention so I choose other materials from other sources. I also try to select authentic materials so that my students can expose to real life situations, language and different type of accents. In real life, we can’t expect to meet one and only standard accent. As a teacher, we should prepare students to all circumstances.
3. I would like to use “Class Mingle Quiz” activity with my students or in a PDC. Because this activity requires active listeners. I suppose it will take my students or my colleagues’ attention. Besides, it is a competitive activity which is fun.

Personally, I think the most common problem related to teaching speaking in English classes is that students are afraid of making mistakes and they don’t internalize the target language. All the other problems are completely or partly related to these problems.
2. I’m eager to use all the activities we’ve learnt today but it will take a little bit time to give a chance for all activities :) For the  beginning, the next theme will be “Movies” for my 9th graders, and I’m planning to use “Flip” application on my classes as we did in today’s section. Also, “Paper Slides” and “I have never” are next ones. I suppose to use “Paper Slides” with “Simple Present Tense-Daily Routines”.
3. Technology is the best way to develop and maximize speaking in class. I will use Voki, Chatterpix, Plotagon and other applications or websites to practice my students’ speaking skills. Separating students into pairs or groups also will help to maximize speaking in the class. Students will practice with more students and speak more as in today’s activity “I have never” with points.

Today’s sessions on reading were almost completely interesting and new for me. I was thinking that reading was the most boring skills for me and my students. I was totally wrong. If I enjoyed a lot while learning these activities, I can’t imagine my students how much they will enjoy all. In line up discussion, I also talked about that reading aloud wouldn’t be helpful for reading subskills but after this “torture section”, I was definitely sure, thank you :)
2. For 9th graders, I would like to start to use “reading race” and “the fake quiz” activities which are easy, usable and enjoyable activities. I liked “Jack and Anna Story” the most and I’ll directly apply it to my classes for reviewing simple present tense. From today, I hope I’ll be careful about reading lessons which are prepared or adapted according to pre-while-post activities. In a PDC meeting, I would like to share all, but especially “the real stories” and “reading race”.

To me, “Agony Aunt” , “Gallery Walk” and “Postie Postie” are the most appropriate ones for local context. I work with teenagers and they like to share their works with others. These activities are collaborative and it will be motivating for them because they will share their writings with others. They will care their writings and others may check their mistakes in the end.
2. In a PDC meeting on writing session, I would like to share “Photo Share” and “Fake Tweets” to my colleagues. I’m sure they will explore that writing can be fun and it’s not complicated or boring or assignment skill. 
3. How can we prepare a writing lesson with pre-while-post included total lesson? I would like to see a sample lesson.

Another productive and efficient day! If we had another day to include grammar and vocabulary, I would like to learn more about teaching grammar. I learnt a lot about ways of teaching grammar but it could have been more detailed and inclusive. Time is not enough for everything! 
2. Definitely “dolmuş game” was my favourite activity for today. It was like a star of the day. It’s fun, collaborative, easy to use for practicing vocabulary. I can’t wait to use it in my classrooms.
3. In a PDC session, I’d like to share about ways of teaching grammar “PPT, GD, GTM”. Besides, it’ll be nice to share the term “CCQ” with other colleagues. Also, I can’t wait to share some websites which is useful to present or practice vocabulary with my school colleagues.

Sure I feel more confident about formative assessment, compared to today’s first session. I thought formative assessment from the point of the teacher, but now I’m aware of self-assessment and other ways to assess students’ process by themselves. Maybe it’s because of all week’s tiredness, I couldn’t focus on everything but I still have a feeling about that it was another productive day.
2. I plan to save all the activities and notes to remember for future. After even one day later, I think I will forget everything because we do a lot, and it’s not easy to remember all details. It will be better to save and take notes. My first aim is to try and involve these activities to my own classes. By the end of this academic year, I hope I will have a new, positive, fresh change in my all classes. In my school, I definitely share the things I’ve learnt and liked a lot with my colleagues. And finally, you know we have to facilitate PDCs. I hope I can be a wheel of change.
