Alaska Railroad ANCHORAGE TO SEWARD

http://www.alaskatravel.com/alaska-railroad/anchorage-seward.html
Friday, July 06, 2018 Alaska Railroad Anchorage to Seward depart 6:45 AM from Anchorage Depot 2 Passengers Your trip will depart from the Anchorage Depot located at 411 West First Avenue at 6:45am. Please check in one hour in advance. Sit back and enjoy the comfortable seating and large picture windows. The route between Anchorage and Seward is considered by many to be the most scenic in the state. After traveling through Anchorage you will descend through the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. This area, also commonly known as Potter’s Marsh, is a good place to spot migratory birds, water fowl and moose. Your trip continues along the Turnagain Arm, a body of water featuring the world’s second highest tides at over 30 feet. Beluga whales can often be seen following salmon on the incoming tide, and Dall sheep frequent rocky mountain sides. After passing Girdwood and Portage the track turns and enters some of Alaska’s most pristine wilderness area. Be sure to have your camera ready as you pass Spencer Glacier, Bartlett Glacier and through Grandview Pass. As you descend towards Seward you will pass Kenai Lake. The turquoise blue color of this 16-mile long lake is a result of sunlight striking suspended glacial silt in the water. The train features a café with "grab and go" menu items and on board hosts. Please check any large baggage at the depot. You will arrive in Seward at approximately 11:05am. Passengers 18 years of age or older must present a photo ID issued by a government authority at check in (for example a state drivers license or passport).
